I know absolutely nothing about how to create an addon, what I am looking for is a way to show a roll in guild chat. Usually /roll only shows up to people who are near you or grouped with you. I need a way to have a roll show up in guild chat for a contest that I run so that everyone can see the roll when it happens, rather than me rolling and just putting the rolled number into guild chat. I have searched through countless addons but have not found anything that will do what I need it to do.

What would be different from you typing the rolled number into the chat window than an addon adding it to the chat itself? Are people accusing you of cheating, or playing favorites? Since, like you pointed out that /roll s are only seen by people in your party / raid, there will always be a question as to the validity of the roll. How are you looking to use such an addon? Maybe there is an alternative out there that someone can suggest if we know more about the issue.

Why don't you simply roll and put a screenshot on your guildwebsite for those who dont believe it

ok I liked guild lottery and I have that addon but I didnt like some of the things it did, I just want something that will show a roll in guild chat. I dont want to take screen shots, and it doesnt necessarily have to do with me being accused of cheating... more that I want to avoid the possibilty of being accused. 

An addon won't help there.  Anything an addon could put into Guild chat, you could simply type, using whatever number you wanted.  And, since addons are distributed as source code, it wouldn't be hard from someone to change such an addon to spit out whatever numbers they told it to.

If you're really worried about being accused of cheating, invite everyone concerned to join you in a raid and see you roll.  As long as you don't have more than 40 people who want to see the roll for themselves, that'll solve the problem.  And if anyone declines to join the raid, then complains that it was fixed, well... they had their chance to verify the roll themselves.
