I am using the Curse client, but I also want to use lightheaded and tomtom which are not available. I have them downloaded, but how do i add them into the curse client/ how the hell do i make them work in general?

Do it the old fashion way:  download, unzip and move them into your addons folder.

You can't add to the Curse Client what is not hosted on Curse.com ... and TomTom and LightHeaded are not hosted here. The good news is the v4 of the Client parses WowInterface (where the addons you want are hosted) and lets you know when updates are available. When you click the Get button, it loads your browser to the WowI page for you to download yourself.

v4 of the Client is currently in Alpha testing, but coming along nicely.

I don't know where you downloaded LightHeaded and TomTom from, but if it was from WoWInterface then you might be (at least) marginally aware of MMOUI Minion. It's a download/install client that works similar to the Curse Client. I've been using it along with CC to keep my addons up-to-date, and I'm well satisfied with it.
