Add-on Needed: frame of mob that is targeting a pary/raid member

I'd pay someone to make this add-on ;p

As a tank, it would be so helpfull to have an Add-on like this

It should show a small from of a mob(or a few) that is attacking/targeting a pary/raid member, or a focus.

This will allow tanks to quickly select the unagro'd mob and taunt/pick it up.

I briefly looking into making it myself, but have no idea what the variable or code could be >,<

You cant write this stuff ... you can only perform actions on "known" things.

And you know only units that one of your party has in target.

would it say in the combat log at all if somone is hit by or attacked by something?

maybe to atleast have an alert from of somesort.

In combat log you get name and guid. To target (or get info about) a unit you need a unitid.

You can get a guid from a unitid but not the other way.

A unitid looks like target, playertarger, party1target or pet2targettarget ... so you need

at least one unit of your party to have it in target. Second problem, you cant create a

unitframe in combat ... so its no problem to have a target of your tank button and have

a unitframe for the targettarget of your tanks target like done in oRA2 but you cant

have a unitframe of a unit nobody in your party have in target or focus.

If you're bored you could write an addon that tells diffenrent partymembers to /focus

different targets ... so that way you'd have the focustargets available ... but well,

tab is fine ;)

Dev mode off ;)

As a tank I can recommend Grid. It has indicators for showing you when someone else has aggro.

Standard unit frames have different colors to show aggro-status,too.

And if everything else fails ... tab, through the mobs. Someone pulling aggro means

he's doing damage ... damage means targets die quick ... this works as long as you

do your job as a tank. I'm a warriortank and there are two types of groups these days.

The noob ones ... no damage ... no aggro ... no problem.

And the emblem-groups ... lots of dmg ... everyone has aggro ... no problem.

And as a healer (priest) I recommend you to go where it hurts. Be faster than the dd,

pull mobs around a corner (healer will follow you when (s)he's good) steal your time to build aggro

where you can.

Thank you for your time and insite! :)  i'll look into that grid.

Take care!

Either use Grid or X-Perl. Both have some good ways to make edges etc getting flashy when a player/NPC has aggro.

Also very helpful in  raidgroups

Many of the nameplate mods support aggro highlighting right on the nameplates themselves.  Very useful in AOE tanking situations like the ony whelps.  By how red and bright the nameplate bar is, you can tell if you have aggro or not.
