Talent Tree

This is my first time playing WOW and I can't decide if I need to relean my talents or not.  While doing my Priest's shadow talents I skipped over some of the talents that I didn't feel were quite as important at the time and now find that I can't go back UP the tree and learn them.  Is this a problem?  Should I redo my tree and fill in all the talents or maybe diverge into the holy or discipline side of the tree?

If you're still leveling, I dont know that I would worry about it TOO much. As long as you are surviving and killing the mobs and getting the quests done, most specs work. Some make things easier than others, but it's not something to spend your gold to fix every time you misplace a point.

However, if you're near 80 or at it already, spec gets more important and it generally IS worth fixing. You just go to your trainer in any major city and tell them you wish to unlearn your talents. Your tree will be wiped clean and you get to start over again. Make sure after you respec though that you talk to your trainer again to make sure you didn't miss any new training that your new spec may give you.

Be careful to make sure your spec is right because it costs more and more gold every time to redo it (up to a cap of 50g). A nice way to play around with spec to make sure you have it the way you want is to go into your game interface and I think it's on the last section at the very bottom..there is an option to preview your talent tree. If you have that enabled you can fill in the points, remove them, add them back, whatever you like... before you learn/use them. Just make sure you hit LEARN at the bottom of your tree when you're done or you haven't finalized your spec and wont benefit from it.

As for what trees are best... lots of speculation. The long and short of it is that it depends a lot on your playstyle. Asking a good shadow priest in your guild for help is never a bad idea.
