Addon Profiles for Toons?

I have a Mage, a Shaman, and a Hunter that I play the most.

The Mage uses the most class specific addons since she's the 80. Mage Nuggets, Broker Portals, Decursive, etc.

But the Hunter doesn't need these although the Shaman can use the Decursive. Later the Shaman will use HealBot which the other two won't.

Is there a way to enable/disable addons according to the toon being played? Like a macro or something? I've tried to use the profile option under Titan Panel but it didn't do anything. Prob'ly because I didn't do it right.

Have you tried using the addon profile option that is provided by Blizzard? When you are at the character screen, click the "AddOns" button in the lower left corner of your screen. This will open the addons options screen. In the upper left corner there is a box that should say "All" under some text that says: "Configure AddOns For:". Next to it is a small arrow. Click this and you should get a drop down menu of your characters. Click on the character that you are playing this session, and choose which addons you want to use with it. After you choose your addons for the character- don't forget to check mark the "Load out of date AddOns" box on the upper right- hit "OK", and start your session. Your characters' addon profile will be automatically saved, and you can choose it any time you play that character. Works with all characters.

There are addons you can download to configure your addons while you are in-game, but since it has to reload the UI anyway after it's done, I figure you might just as well go back to the character screen and do it there.

Hope this helped, and Happy WoWing!

Jeffy's advice is good if you are looking to create profiles between different characters. You can easily use default Blizzard stuff for that. However if you need different addons at different times for the same toon, an addon profiler could do the trick. I like TooManyAddons: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/too-many-addons.aspx   I believe it will also allow you to manage profiles between different toons as well, but it's been a while since i used it so I'm not entirely sure.

@Jeffy--the reason why someone may want to use some type of addon manager is that they allow you to switch what addons you have without making you log off. Yes it causes you to reload your UI which sometimes seems the same as logging off but your toon is still in Azeroth. This is generally preferable if you are already grouped and realize hey, they're saying they need me to heal. I better turn Healbot/Grid/Decursive/VisualHeal on. Some PUGs will just replace you if you have to log off to load a new addon, even if you warn them that's what you're doing.

OH! Excellent! I thought there had to be some sort of built-in way as well as an addon that would do it.

I think I will do a combo of both. Have the built in one do the bulk of it then turn on the other within the game itself. I don't always need Decursive, for example, except when in an instance.

Now I gotta go play and figure it out. Thanks for the help.

@JLBurnett04: Yeah, I understand the reasoning behind those addons. However, I (personally) have had nothing but problems with them, so I don't feel comfortable recommending them. I know that there has got to be a lot of players who don't have trouble with them, since they are so popular. I'm just not one of them.
