Hello,
I have installed the Curse client to help filling the database.
Yesterday I have discovered the Superior Raider's Warding Tunic of Arcane Spikes on Genelia.
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/blog.vm?entryId=7993190
And when I look on your database I see :
http://vg-en.curse-gaming.com/database/items/details/785046/superior-raiders-warding-tunic-of-arcane-spikes/
So my question : why my updates are not taken into consideration ?
I am a crafter, so I don't wear the items I craft, I send them to others that have asked for them.
But frankly, not only the client doesn't recover my Craft skills but if also it only take into consideration the items we wear, it's really frustrating for crafters to have such thing in place.
Could you please explain me how it is working ?
Best regards,
Fandaor

The service was down a short while yesterday while I updated it to the latest patch. Every single individual discovery isn't really THAT important. Keep it running and you'll be contributing. I tend to look at it like in order for the resource to be useful to anyone people have to run the client and things will be added and updated in their own pace. It's here for the long haul.

Hello Asp,
I understand but I have my doubts on the way the client is retrieving the data : to my impression it only retrieve the armor or weapon you equip, cause I have made some world discoveries and every time I check the server, they are not implemented or someone has the grant like 1 day after me...
So my point is : is the client really usefull when you are only a crafter if it doesn't seem to retrieve the datas from what you craft, but more from what you use/wear.

Tuche is one the top contributors at the moment and afaik he's primarily a crafter. Anything in your inventory will be sent to us.

... so it seems I have troubles uploading info to your server then.
cause nothing I have found has been yet displayed.
Example :
Defender's Warding Gloves
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/blog.vm?entryId=7958822
Raider's Warding Tunic of Arcane Spikes
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/blog.vm?entryId=7991968
No entry on Curse DB...
I'm not complaining about who enters what. But as the client eats memory and bandwidth, I would at least want to be sure this is not for nothing.
So far, I still have my doubts as I don't see any update coming from what I have crafted.
And if you take :
http://vg-en.curse-gaming.com/database/items/details/925455/superior-defenders-warding-armguard-of-health/
Thesse was the client that ordered me the item, while I was the crafter :
http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/blog.vm?entryId=7960584
Do you see my point here ?

Your last data commit was today at 13:53 EDT so data is definitely coming through. On the 8:th and 9:th you sent data coming from an unknown server so the client wasn't able to tell which server you play on. This is something I'm working on fixing. Don't worry about each and every item though, they'll make it in eventually. As for memory it uses very very little, less than 1 MB and as for bandwidth it's a couple of KB per 5 - 10 minutes.

I had my client running for at least 30mins-1h before but it didn't manage to upload my character profile. Does this have anything to do with me playing on Infineum (EU)?
Edit: Working now! :)

Kind of a thread hijack, but I've been running the client for Vanguard for a few weeks, but I'm not sure if I'm actually submitting any data. I downloaded the newer client (10.1) and went to install it, but it only seems to have a WoW plugin and not one for VG. Does the new version not work with VG yet? Should I install the 10.0 beta?

It has VG built in by default, and will have WoW soon. The beta version is mostly changes made specifically for WoW but also has an auto-update system installed.

Same here. Also when Curse client 0.10.5 running, Vanguard console window always opens. I tried to play with the option for console window in Curse client and restarting Vanguard client each time, but it had no effect. Only when I start Vanguard without Curse client in memory, console window doesn't open and Vanguard client works stable.

I'll look into this. I just released a new version of the extension to deal with the new update. It's possible I screwed up.
-edit-
The console and log to file always being on was indeed a bug and has been fixed in my version. I haven't found a source of any crashes yet though.

asp,
vgdb.log shows the hash on several of the .dll files as being incorrect. whether or not you calculate the file hash or this is unreal's md5sum, i don't know.
also could you please fix the CurseClient so that if one exits CurseClient before they exit from Vanguard the game does not keep vgdb.log open ? (having to forcefully close the handle is a bit annoying :)

Hmm hashes should definitely not be wrong. You probably didn't get the new version yet but it should only take about 4 hours and there's about 8 between our posts.
The vgdb.log file is actually opened by Vanguard as I insert the extension into the memory of that process. So Windows will make the Vanguard process the owner. Closing the handle could probably cause weird stuff to happen ;P

i know, it's fixed in 0.12 that we're releasing soon. 0.10.6 is a branch off of 0.10.5 and was a minor world of warcraft update.

I think Game Update 2 changed VGClient in some way. Curse Client now doesn't communicate with it and thus doesn't update Curse database. Also Console window doesn't open since Game Update went live as it used to due to bug in Curse client which was always opening it regardless the setting.
Could you please check it?

I disabled it for a short while for GU2. I decided that while I was fixing everything that broke with this rather large change I'd add some new features that I've wanted in there for a while.
I added the ability to collect information about the effects on a weapon and what they do since it was added in GU2. I also added in game item links to the database and information about the source where the item was seen, such as looted, broker , item link, quest and so on so that it is very clear where the item was seen. When it makes it to the website is not up to me. Right now we're sitting on a LOT of information that isn't displayed on the website which is really sad.
Sigil later patched the game yet again so I had to go in and fix it another time. Should be up and running right now, if you want to make sure you have the update just restart the client.

And so, it begins.
We are stil fine tuning the display system. When it's done expect to see it all over the database. We will also be launching the abilities/recipes pages over the next few days.

Oh my God !
It is looking really nice Zinor, please, keep it coming !
Some reports thou,
- Recipes are showing but when you click them, i get a page error.
- "Mouse-hovering" an item wont pop up our beloved item preview.
- When can we expect to see the "link item in-game code" implemented ?

Recipes/Abilities are still in the "whoops, I committed the search pages w/ them implemented and I dont really want to pull them for now", so they may be working off and on temporarily :)
As for the tooltips, we have implemented a new system, where we pregenerate them all, and they're just not generated yet, they'll be back today hopefully.
For the in-game item code, if someone can do the research to figure out how exactly it's generated, I'd gladly create it :)

Everything seems to working now, apart from the new items bonus info in the tooltip . . .
another thing i would like to ask for, is the listing of last commented items/quests/entities . . .
i used that a lot, i think it is a nice way to bend the community, members helping each others

Curse client 0.12.0 always crashing VG client. It happens when I click on Play button in the Launcher. Same happens on my wife's computer, which is completely with different hardware and software installations. We both disabled our curse clients from running.
Could you please look into it. We would like to contribute :)

Seems Cursed have lost its interest in Vanguard sadly, there is not that much good VG sites like this, but its getting outdated quite fast now with AWP out and all.
