Make sure its not the premade folder you are copying in the addon folder but the files you extracted. It can be quicker to just extract the files directly into the addons folder.

ok... i tried that but it still won't work...
what am i supposed to do that i'm not??
why won't it work?
do i have to open the folder and then take out all of the files one by one?

so based on your posting habits, i'm beginning to understand why you don't have any friends to come over and help you with this in person...

seriously, did you forget to take your pills or something?

All I can do is explain the basics on how to do it and hope it triggers some sort of understanding that you're missing so far..if you spaz out on me I won't be following up..

Step 1: Cut a hole in the box.

I'm joking, the real Step 1: download an addon in .zip form

Step 2: open that .zip file and extract it to C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons. Don't do it file-by-file, don't do it any way other than the normal "extract all" way. So now if you're trying to install Bongos, there should be a Bongos folder in the Addons folder.

Step 3: there is no step 3, because really that's all there is to installing addons.

the only other thing i can think of from what you've posted is maybe you don't have write permissions to that folder...try changing the permissions to read/write and then maybe you can put the files there..

good luck, and calm down.

Step 2-put yer junk in that box.

There is no reason to dump the extracted items into a temp folder and then copy it over. Just extract the ENTIRE contents of the zip file right into the \wow directory\interface\addons. You'll know if you're in the right folder when you see a few items like Blizzard_BindingUI and more.

one thing: i extract my addons to a temporary folder because i run linux, and my extraction program won't let me extract directly into a hidden folder (my "C:" drive that wine uses is within the .wine directory..hidden from my archive extractor). but if you're using windows this is not an issue.

In the steps described above, what is :

4. putting in a premade folder.

?

i.e. can you give a lot more detail about what you are doing at this step, including the actual AddOn and folder names, etc.

Because I can't figure out why this step is needed...

In other words, I would just be extracting to \Interface\AddOns
OR I would extract and then copy to \Interface\AddOns
BUT I would not be extracting and then "putting in a pre-made folder" and then copying to \Interface\AddOns
