With our new AddOn page we've introduced a cool new feature called "Recommended AddOns." While we've covered the basics, we'd also like to hear your thoughts on the AddOns a new player shouldn't live without.
Discuss any AddOn you would recommend to a player, or your favorite AddOns, in this thread. Who knows, maybe you'll help introduce someone unfamiliar with AddOns to something great!
For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, here are the recommended categories we've tried to provide insight on:
With these pages, we explain why we think it would be beneficial for a player to use those specific AddOns. Now tell us why you would recommend an AddOn to a player, and what it is!

There are too many great addons to count. Most of the ones I would recommend are already listed inculding; Questhelper, Bongos, BigWiggs, Omen etc.
I would like to see a sections for recommended guild addons such as GuildMap, Group Calendar etc. that are beneficial for the management and guild as a whole.
I would also give my thumbs up for FuBar (plus many of its modules) its a nice alternative to Titan panel with allows a whole bunch of information found through the various Blizzard windows to be summarized in bars along the top and/or bottom of the game frame.
Another recommendation is Quartz - a casting bar addon tonnes of funcationality inculding mirror bars, target casting bars, focus casting bars and two really cool features; 1. It shows server lag allowing you to line up your next spell to cast before you the animation of the previous spell completes. 2. Combines tradeskill cast time together to show how long all crafted items will take (basically the total time to create those 100 linen bandages).
So there is alot more... I am an addon addict, but I'll leave it at those for now!

I would say that Questhelper Is a must have addon for questing, KLH threatmeter is a must have for raiding, Group calendar is a must have for guilds, and Grimoire Keeper is a must have for warlocks. the rest of the ones I use are more preference.
PS. I guess Auctioneer Advanced would count as a must have for auction players

- Grid: Very nice raid frame addon
- Quartz: Offers many useful features to the casting bar
Both addons are very stable and well maintained
- Omen: I prefer this over KLH as threat-meter as there is better maintenance, but the 2.4 versions are not really what I call stable and well functioning - Would still recommend it though.

Healbot for the healers in the crowd.
It provides box in which it puts one button for each player. To Heal u click a button and HB chooses a mana efficient spell. Just click like mad to heal.
U can have influence over HB's choices by using right, shift, alt etc. A tool tip is provided showing what each of these will do.

Also for healers: Clique, or click2cast. I prefer Clique. Set up button combos (I use ctrl-left for Flash Heal, ctrl-middle for Renew, ctrl-right for Greater Heal, and 2 others.) You can even link to macros or write ones exclusively for Clique. To take it a step further, you can set up the same or different clicks on different unit frames: helpful, harm, out of combat, etc. Then all you have to do is click-cast on a unit frame and never worry about changing targets again!

I've been researching "game addictions" for the past six years. And I'm not evil, I play (sometimes too much) on Tichondrius. A lot of why we play too much has nothing to do with addiction - I have some simple ideas for addons that could aid players who know they have problems balancing WoW with that other life. Some of the "addiction" is just natural, and more about how the human body processes the gaming experience.
I'm a complete noob to the addon community, so I'm wondering if somebody with some experience wouldn't mind working with me to make a balance addon. I know how these addons would look. Having used addons since pre-BC I know that all of the features are possible but I don't know how difficult it would be to wrap them together. I also have plenty of BW to mirror the file. The best way to get me is at neilsclark at hotmail dot com.
Finally, apologies all around if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I'm new at this.

"Does anyone recommend any addons for healers?"
Using "Healbot Continued" hosted here on Curse since my priest is lvl20, I love it and will never leave it. ( I have also tested the combinaison Grid+Clique but thats so far not specially designed for healers, and so on , worse..) Else I could recommand to get a look at my first addon EasyDND so to auto control AFK/DND modes and saves time and boring keyboards typings ;)

My addon idea would be something that would help you find Rare Spawns in WoW Its features would be. 1. How many rare spawns are there and the locations of it Co Ords or little points added up on your map. 2. The respawn rate of the rare spawns. So you wouldnt have to repeatedly check every time to see what its rate was 3. The drops of the rare spawn percentages and such a picture as well. 4. The stats of the rare spawn how much health or mana damage it deals its spell effects etc 5. Whether or not the rare spawn is tameable and its abilities for hunters.
Finding the Rarespawns in WoW is frustrating and i alaways like to see where their located so I check this addon would make things much easier for me and other people. But maybe its just some form of cheating?
Anyway thats my idea.

I would like an addon that is in a box that shows an estimated bar on how much health a mob has left. and if possible then I can click on one of those bars to target them. That would make it really easy to grind, you know if your grinding multiple mobs it can be hard sometimes to click on the mob you want to attack because there always jumping around the place

Definitely Omen for watching your threat. Great even in low level 5 mans. For druids id have to say DruidItemSwap. Best addon ever! Recount is good for recording damage/healing/everything. My number two (as i carry 4 sets of gear on me at all times) is Outfitter. For changing gear 8) My number One is The CT-Mod package. It aint the flashest but its stable and extemely well made, has all the useful bits and pieces one could need (like mailmod) and its a complete package from the same author so your gauranteed all the mods are gonna work together and not cause your comp to melt down. (yeah u know its happened to you) Couldnt live without it.

As a hunter I have two that I would highly reccomend to use. I would say use one or the other, but if you like customizing, try both and make it work.
Zhunter Mod: As a hunter, your buttons are usually filled up with aspects, traps, and pet commands. Also, at higher levels, misdirection helper is a must have IMHO. You can change the size of the buttons/bars, you can change the order, and well, a whole lot more than what would be expected. Perfect for those who like a whole new looking UI and want that last puzzle piece to tie it all together.
FloAspectBar/FloTotemBar: Using the basics of WoW default UI again, this is a room saver for Hunters. One puts your aspects (as you get them) on a bar that fits nicley around and can auto size itself to the default UI. The same goes with the totem bar, very nice, very simple, reccomended for those new to Add ons as a whole or even WoW as a whole.

MobInfo does that but it also gets the information from the enemies you already killed, so it becames more accurate as you play and kill mobs.

in lotro (lord of the rings) there was a feature (even though they didnt allow addons...bummer) that i really loved and would like to see for wow. when you see an item in the chat or loot or inventory, whatever, you just have to hoover your mouse over it for the small window to appear displaying the stats of that item.
BUT ... more importantly it would also pop a window of the same contents for the item of which you already have equipped (if applicable). so if you hoover your mouse over an item in your inventory, which happens to be a sword, than it will pop the window displaying the stats of that sword, and a window displaying the stats of your currently equipped weapon.
this made it very easy to see if the new item was better than the equipped item for comparrison purposes.
thanks if someone can write this, because i know IT...not programming :p

Well for the comparing of an item next to your currently equipped item (be it in your bags or linked in chat) you can use one of the many comparing addons out there, I use tekKompare.
If you feel you *really* need the item hover (you can do it by clicking by default) compare functionality in your chat box, you can download "Prat" - then the compare box will be shown when you hover items in chat rather than having to click them.
