All of a sudden recently all the people in Trade chat have a number in brackets after their name . I haven't installed any new add-ons recently but I'm pretty sure that it's because of SpamMeNot since it the numbers disappear when I disable the addon.
Does anyone know why these numbers just started appearing, what they mean and most importantly how to disable them?

It seems that your assumption is correct about it being SpamMeNot. If you look on the addons page on Curse you will see that it has been asked and not yet replied to. It also seems to be in the current release so I would try an earlier version. (newer is not always better)

Is anyone else using the add seeing this?

Also in the description text on that page describes:
SpamMeNot also includes a level based filter so that players that attempt to contact you via whispers, that are under the specified level (default 2), will also be blocked. Setting this to 1 in effect disables this functionality.
Look for a setting relating to this, might be related?

Perhaps I'm not being clear.
What I'm seeing is in every form of chat that I see there is a number after the toon's name. The numbers are different colors. It seems like 0 - 30 are green, 4o to whatever is yellow and I'm sure there's a red at some point. I have no clue what these numbers represent. It doesn't seem to matter what level the toon is, I see these numbers after everyone's name. Again, this only started happening withing the past few days. I haven't installed any new adds in that time and the numbers go away if I disable SpamMeNot.

OK, you have determined that it is not related to their level? You have tried disabling every addon you have and just running SpamMeNot? How about the options in the addon? have you tried a previous version?
I'm just throwing out ideas here. As a last resort you can always back up your WTF and Interface folder and use delete the originals then reinstall SpamMeNot to see if it is truly that addon causing issues. I'm just about of ideas and the delete the folders idea is always my last resort but 9 out of 10 times it works. It's just a pain in the *** setting up everything again. If you find that it is the addon causing problems you can always just restore the original folders.

Someone else figured it out for me.
In the latest version of SpamMeNot there's a button to turn on/off something called "Player Ratings". I have no idea what ratings are but this was the culprit.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

Hmmm that seems to be what I had suggested the culprit was. Oh well. Glad you figured it out and thank you for posting the solution. So many people get answers elsewhere and never post back with the solution.

the real problem aren't the wrong messages blocked, but the esponential use of memory of the addon for any of them
