X-PERL UNIT FRAMES

I have been told by a few friend's and Blizzard themselves that is addon WILL CRASH YOUR COMPUTER'S HARD DRIVE. Now I have noticed that my computer acts much slower than usual, and I began getting lag in WoW at strange times, so I deleted everything of X-Perl, and hazzah, all fixed. No lag, no slowness. But I want to know if what I said in my first sentence if this is true. I Love the addon to death and it really brightens up the game, but now I have all these people telling me that it is a death trap.

Please help.

Untrue. I've been using Xperl for a LONG time. If you go here, http://youtube.com/results?search_query=CorkeyThatcher&search=Search you can see all the vidoes I frapsed using it and it's been fine.

What you have have had was a long standing issue with Nymbia Perl and later X-perl. You don't always need everything in the xperl package. For example in my UI, since I'm using CTRA, I don't enable any of xperl's raid functions. I have a G15 KB so I don't use the voice overlay. If you like perl but are afraid of x-perl, try classic perl then.

Same here. I have been using X-Perl for a really long time and haven't had any problems with it. I was having some crashes a month ago and found it to be a faulty power supply and had nothing to do with any mods.

I would hesitate to believe what you said in the first sentence because of how complex my ui is, how long I have been using X-Perl and the large amount of other people I know who use the mod without issue.

GLAD TO HEAR IT!!!! I love x-perl so much. But after what Blizzard said, I guess they just don't want me to use x-perl or have it interfear with the normal WoW files. But thanks again guys =)

Where have you seen Bliz say negative things about X-Perl. I would really like to read this.

Also since addon only can use the wow engine to write to files and execute code, I really can't see how it should be able to "CRASH YOUR COMPUTER'S HARD DRIVE" :)

Not even normal executable with full user rights can negatively affect hardware. I even doubt anything else outside kernel space can. And I am not even sure if the drivers themselfs can have so much impact to crash a hard drive (meaning headcrash).

Addons can't even write files.

I'd like to see where blizzard said this too...

However, I will say one thing. Recently, I have had my harddrive stop being registered by windows. I don't have WoW installed on the same drive as windows, so everything except WoW works fine. Whenever this happens, I just reboot and everything is back to normal. Then I play WoW again and things'll be fine for like a week or just a couple or days, or until after the next time I reboot, but eventually it happens again.

I doubt it's X-Perl, but yeah, it's probably something completely unrelated. The drive WoW is installed on is an SATA drive, which does not like to work with Windows in SATA mode for some reason, so I run it in IDE mode. It works fine in Linux, so I have no idea why.

Louis, for your issue, you might have heating issues with that HD. Check into one of those under the drive fans.
