Okay, so I downloaded the patch today (ZOMG I HAVE A MOUNT WOOT), but it broke Quest Helper. I get an error that says there's no parent directory (or 'nil' value for parent) for fonts and uhh... something else that I suddenly can't remember, terrain I *think*. But, it was working perfectly before the patch.

So... does anyone have plans to update QuestHelper for the patch? I really need it... I'm still learning the world, and have no idea where anything is without it! lol

interface/AddOns/QuestHelper/recycle.lua:150:setparent():cannot create a 'nil' parent for fonts or textures

that is the exact message i receive when i log onto WoW, and mine also was working perfectly before the new mount update patch...can this be fixed? i am also brand new to WoW and man i got no clue lol.

Blizzard is working on the problem that causes the addons to automatically Crash. And if Blizzard doesn't fix it first, a new version of QH will be released that bypasses the problem. So just be patiant.

I figured I'd have to wait awhile, but was just curious about it, especially since the patches almost always break at least a couple of addons. lol

Well, I'm having same issue...I even asked in the trade channel if anyone had QuestHelper and if they were having trouble...No one responded. Nice to know it isn't my computer acting up...lol

thank god its not just me. QH is my savior on wow. I hate reading the stupid logs and hunting forever to find stuff. Glad to know it wanst must me. Stupid patch pawned my QH. Auctioneer is the only add on that is still working for me

Same problem here. Is everyone else is able to at least TRACK their quest? I have to keep checking in the mission log to see what i need to do to complete my quests...

Bummer. And I was getting so used to relying on Questhelper. Too bad WOW/Blizzard shot it out of the water. Guess since they aren't getting any $$$ for it, there's no reason to worry about it. Sounds kinda like MS, eh?

I'll wait. Hopefully not too long though lol. My wife doesn't let me play long nowdays.

Oy, for some reason it took me a while before i realized, wtf I have no quest helper!! :O :O :O :O So is this a Blizz prob from the new patch or do we need a new version of QH? If its Blizz's fault, what's new? Blizz always screws up my fun in wow! Like 30 mounts a couple weeks later when I payed like 85g for mount and training at 40 (51 now) and all the lvl 30's only have to pay like 43g >:(

If we need a new QH, i'm very impatient so we better get one PRONTO, ASAP, NOW NOW NOW.

Open recycle.lua and change every line that says:

tex:SetParent(nil)

to

-- tex:SetParent(nil)

This is just a rough fix and won't stop all errors from QuestHelper, but it helps just enough for it to work with its basic functions. Depending on the version you have, you should only have 2 or 3 lines to replace. (lines 150, 218, and 330ish I think)

Hope they fix it quick ..... a night without WoW is unthinkable

without QH i hardly feel like playing WOW, it's the only thing that makes questing fun, otherwise you spend hours on one quest

when ever a patch hits, I usually grind for a bit or just work my professions. keep you mind off of quests for a few days...

Lost mine as well, but it says I have an open GM ticket. They want me to remove all my addons...........same old story. I'll wait on the new version.

Sure, i use Quest Helper, but having to seriously rely on the addon to play wow? To do quests that the quest log & description tells you exactly where to go and what to do?

I dunno, maybe it would be better for blizzard to disable Quest Helper from working, if it was possible to do such a thing..

the latest QH patch is here. i dowloaded it and all was fixed.

All I can say is - I'm lost and getting more and more frustrated by the minute - anyone know how long this will take?

Well I've got the latest questhelper and yes it works - but I had to disable all my other addons first
I'll keep checking but most of the other addons are working - just I cant use QuestHelper at the same time

makes it easier to move away from WOW. have to have addons just to play it - if they are going to make it so addons don't work with WOW - then time to move on.

hmm they updated questhelper for all to know and in order for it to work you need to uninstall the previous questhelper and close wow and than reopen it thats what worked for me and now it works again :0

Latest works for me. To whoever runs QH, thank you. I'm incredibly impressed with the time it takes you to fix these issues. I only wish more people could get on these issues as promptly as you guys do :)

oh good so i'm not the only one who is completely lost without quest helper and REALLY needs it back up and running. Come on someone get on the job and FIX IT! *laughs*

although i lvled my druid to 70 without QH, all my other alts i have been using it, depending on it... lol, guess i have gotten lazy! i want QH!!! Please, someone, just fix the problem!

just downloaded QuestHelper 0.48 installed it to my addons, loaded the game check the addon area of my start up screen made sure "out of date" was checked .. started the game ... the quest list (shift click to track) ... no paths or spots show up on the maps for me

any help would be nice
