Stop Killing Me!

i just started playing wow' now im lvl 29, in a pvp world' where my friends suggested me to play and join them,. And now hordes r killing me like crazy' im not much of a pvp player, im more like a adventurer quest player, trying to reach where my friends are. Is there a add-on to stop them from killing me?. And yes they even killed me in a Rp realm aswell' my friend told me, if i clicked on them they will attack. I haven't done anything to them at all, i ran from them instead and they still killed me... So plz, Mods & add-ons, plz help me out.

Instead of showing a sword on me, why not add a question mark' so they cant kill me... That would leave them in suspense... "?" would be nice... ^.^

Unfortunately there aren't any addons that can stop this. Sorry to hear you ended up on a realm you don't enjoy. :(

Report this thread post

That's why there's many sort of Realm, PvP, PvE, RP-PvE etc etc...

Gather your friends and fight back ! or try to bring your friends on a non-pvp server.

Addons can't change game mechanics, well if i have one advice, avoid being alone in contested areas, try to stay in town and use the lfg system to do some instances (nobody can kill you in PvE instances !).

Wait as a ghost until you unflag, then respawn.

FOR THE HORDE!

well i hate when people call things gay...or "ghey"...

but yes i also hate when people camp your body.

Suggestion to the OP: start a new character on a PvE realm, and see if that fits your playing style better. As far as getting attacked when you click on a player of the opposite faction, that's untrue.

On a PvP realm, they can just flat out attack you pretty much whenever. They might be more likely to do that if you're targeting them, but just clicking them doesn't automatically generate a response from them for the most part.

On a RP server (not RP-PvP), just clicking doesn't let them attack you either. You have to initiate some sort of hostile act to turn yourself PvP. That's where it gets a little more complicated, though. While simply left-clicking someone isn't hostile, any sort of offensive spell cast on them, even if that spell doesn't finish (I think) will turn on your PvP, and then you're fair game. Also, if your friend happens to be fighting someone PvP, and you cast any helpful spells on your friend, you will also become PvP, and will probably draw some aggro for it.

My style of play is similar to the OP's, and I play almost exclusively on PvE servers, to avoid some of the hassles that come along with being on a PvP server. I know it's exciting and such to constantly have to watch your back, but, well, frankly I get up and walk around a lot while playing, and that would result in me returning to a ghost quite a bit. At least on a PvE server, I have more control over when and where I PvP, which I like.

this why i play in a normal realm. i can choose to be flagged and fight peeps or i can choose not to be flagged while im farming ect. Most people dont understand that and tell me oh pve servers is hella gayy and such. And honestly who even fights in outdoors anymore? since arena i hardly see any raiding going on wich makes me a sad panda :(

If the guy wants to be with his friends he's not really gonna go roll on a PvE server though, is he? ;p

What class do you play? Some classes have great ways to escape when attacked. A druid with travel form, sham with ghost wolf, rogue with vanish. It's never cowardly to run away - it's called a tactical retreat :D

But other than that if you start to get camped then give your friends a kick - they can come meet you and help you mow down the gits that are corpse camping you. Always satisfying :D

It happens sometimes we fall victime as a part of the Hord and Alliance, PVP servers sometimes we can't be nice but sometimes it pisses me off when Alliance high levels attack while I am doing battle with a monster at level 30.

Funny thing about the Alliance they always send out level 70 go after low level a bunch of 30's who manage to raid South because we were pissed off with the Alliance for picking on us with one level 70 Its sad enogh that Alliance keeps sending 4 level 70's after a bunch of level 30's who kept beating the hell out of them because of the fact this one gnome warlock suck ass and I kept Cheap Shot her with my rogue who was level 32 at the time manage to Cheap shot a level 70 Warlock with rest of the group we manage to beat the hell out of that gnome.

The reason why would a bunch of low levels manage this because we were pissed off with the Alliance for doing cheep tactics to kill us, from sneak attacks, ambushes its the same tactics with the hord which at times I leave low level alone I understand they are doing Quest when we know how to kill you from experiance I don't resort to it unless someone pisses me off when I am in a bad mood.

If you dont like getting killed in world pvp on a pvp server i suggest you start playing a rogue since they are nearly impossible to kill because of evasion, vanish and sprint. and they can if necessary kill most classes while lvl'in.
if you dont want to get ganked playing something which is not a mage is a good way to start since people have a tendency to like killing low lvl mages.

Report this thread post

It's a vengeance thing because at end-game mages get massive burst potential (when specced for it) ;p

Rogues and druids are definately two of the most survivable classes for sure though.

Report this thread post

I don't agree that Rogues have survivability by any stretch of the imagination. I think they are on eof the weaker classes. Druids have survivability depending on what spec they are but again, classes like Paladin and Disc Priests really do put both of them too shame :-)

Report this thread post

I don't mean so much survivable as much as they can choose their own battles. When they don't want to fight they don't have to, and if things start to turn against them they have mechanisms to escape (be it vanish, sprint/restealth or whatever ;p)

Tbh this is a problem on every PVP server. If u dont like it u can either change to a pve server or lvl ur character in another zone, then go back and kick their asses :)

Report this thread post

I have lvled a few horde toons on a PVP server and only in stranglethorn vale and hillsbrad have i wanted to stab myself in the eye with a rusty nail. Everywhere else you arent killed every minute or so.

I DEFINATLY agree with ppl gunnin for mages. Thats the reason why i made a rogue. :P

About 10% of the time i enjoy being in a PVP server. The other 90% I am hopping on a 70 to corpse camp the alliance because they specifically wait until your a) 30% hp or lower or b) have 2+ mobs on you. Honor system my #$$

i am also newish player = early summer... i choose RP realm = there u have to click on your head and check your stats or change it to pvp or non-pvp...

NB: you become pvp if you attack npc's in cities or little places where u need to go to do part of a quest.. i just learned this!! painfully!!

i 'think' my mistake was trying to clear a path to the place where one quest was & attacking the npc in front of it... a small horde player had called out friends & when i went for the quest the rogues came out in droves!! 'that one was near sm, on the way to the plague-lands... little horde out-post...

this was a lvl 40ish quest, i think & my toon is now just barely lvl 66... i was very, 'very' hurt & puzzeled by this action on the part of the horde players!!

i am an over 50 player... medically retired after car accident.. the head injury causes memory losses .. or is it the age i am..?

lol, i should add here.. my first toon  was an undead priest which i got to lvl 13 .. i had to kill her each time i ended up in undercity to get out to the graveyard....

the horde players emoted rude gestures and/or laughed when asked for directions/assistance. not that the alliance players are a better 'class' of ppl... cuz there are many who are just the same in alliance side <in fact, many play both sides on the same server!!>= it took another 20 lvls to find the temple for changing the hammer for zu' far?? temple & they got her again there!!the questhelpers were god-sends, but did not help with that one!! nor did i get anything more from alliance & guild, other than, temple in the hinterlands. this one is a lvl 50ish quest, i believe..

thanks people!! lol .. i use thottbott, wowhead & others places for this stuff but sometimes you seem to have to know what you are talking about in order to find out what you are talking about!!

just a little note... when this toon fell off the mountain in the area where rut'terann village is, died of course, went back for corpse and could not find the way thru the mountains back to undercity <i do have an idea, now, how to get there!>.. she swam around the land mass 3 times & finally got the boat to darkshore & found the spiriual healer there... i was just going to go back to the rut village dock and swim around again till i found the way but after 3 hours, dead, i was tired so i just used my stone to get back to the inn... hehehe.... it was some time before i learned i would have been dead the second i went near auberdinne and the docks there!! i was lucky since i often destroyed the stone to make bag space!!

Report this thread post

lol... here we have the horde complaining about the alliance!!

there really are two sides to each story!!!

funny part is, when the horde invade places like goldshire and darkshore .. they are all lvl 70 toons dressed in battle-ground gear..

it always seemed to me that the lvl 70 alliance players in the area would just ride on by, letting the horde players kill our quest-givers...

they re-spawn, so why not?

with the zombies now... it is our own side now killing off the quest givers!!

i gotta log in now!! the spaceships had arrived after the last restart & i am now intrigued as to what comes next!!

i have given up trying to quest in these places for the time being!!

I am also fairly new, I have a lvl 29 Hunter (which I love), but I can't stand the lvl ??'s coming up and one hit, spell, whatever, killing me! Don't these people have anything better to do than mow down low level people?

While out in my travels, I have come across Horde players that are very nice. One even helped me on a difficult quest Surprise, but it is very hard to understand them. They talk funny.

Back to the op, if you stick to the sides of the roads, I find that usually people leave you alone. Don't forget to help out people that are having the same issue you are.

I play a pvp server too because some friends were there, whereas usually i dislike world PVP as i like to powerlvl very fast and be left alone. Ganking slows me down alot and sometimes makes me very frustrated :D My advice if you want to stay with your friends on that server is to learn what areas are dangerous and lvl up in the lesser used areas. For example at lvl 30-40 stv is a great zone with lots of quests but its full of the ganker idiots at peak times. However i dont think I have ever been ganked in desolace. Also if you can play at night it is a big bonus as the little kiddies are in bed :D

to try to avoid being ganked i recommend:

always look out. when you are fighting dont stare at the mob and the pretty numbers, rotate your camera with left button so you are constantly surveying the area. This will help you avoid suprise attacks from other mobs too.

use terrain. I know its hard to hide with a big red text above your head (wish they would remove this to make hiding a proper option) but the times i have hidden behind a tree to escape i cant count :)

use slowing skills and try to escape. it probably wont work but at least u tried :) Run to a town where the npcs will offer some protection

to be honest you cant escape really. This is one of the big flaws of wow as a pvp game. You cant do anything to escape the idiots who kill people much below their level. Just dont become one of them. My advice is to go somewhere where it doesnt happen as much and just accept it as part of the game. It is a war after all. My personal view is that world pvp has become a complete joke and needs to be completely redesigned. Perhaps people should LOSE honor for killing low levels. Perhaps they should get a debuff like shame of the bully which stacks until they are so weak they cant do anything :D i dont know. All i do know is that you will pretty much never get into a fair fight until you are lvl 70 and even then you will probably be attacked while you are fighting 3 mobs and have half HP. I know id be far happier on a pve realm but im stuck with pvp now so ive learnt to accept it :P
