Hi,
i use the curse client and did an update with the package install for all my addons.
no problems there.
but everytime i try to do an package install on my girlfriends pc i get the error "URL psyn://services.curse.com/client/install.xml?id=xxxx is not a valid PSYN URL." (xxxx is the id of the addon)
tried it with 10-20 different addons i installed on my pc that way. -.-
already tried uninstalling/reinstall curse client several times.
any hints what i could try to solve the problem?
OS is winxp prof sp2 on both PCs

Could you get me the addon that is making the client say that? The URL seems completely valid to me.

If your using Firefox, you may need to delete all of your private data by finding it under tools this should fix your problem.
your firefox will ask what would you like to do with PSYN link. remember to reinstall the curse client.
Help this help you

@asp: it happens with all addons i try on that pc. the urls are valid - i installed them succesfull on my own pc using the curse client.
@Rixier: deleted all private data but still the same with firefox, curse client pops up that error msg.
using ie works fine :)
so i just have to figure out where the problem with firefox is on that pc.
after uninstalling curse client and deleting all private data of firefox my pc still tries to open psyn urls with the (uninstalled...) curse client.
where else can i delete that link between psyn and curse client?

Interesting, first time I'be heard of this issue. Have you tries start -> run -> psyn URL? If that results in the same invalid message something is seriously messed up. If you want to discuss it add me at asp__@bluemail.org. This is something I'd like to see solved.

start->run>psyn url works as intended.
curse client starts downloading as expected, just like using ie.

I think it has to do with the fact that you didn't install the Curse Client with Administrative Privileges and therefor didn't make the change to the registry that was necessary for it to work right, that is my problem as well.

For me it wouldn't work in firefox but when I opened firefox then went to "Tools", "Options", "Applications" then went down the list to "psyn" and in the drop down selected "Use Curse Client" it now works :-) I am using firefox 3.0.1 and it has always worked in IE for me. Good luck

I am using FF 2.0.0.17 and also trying Safari (I have a mac), and despite creating curse.app I cannot get either of the browsers to work. I obviously downloaded the mac version.
Also, every single addon I click on using the app errors out saying wrong patch, even for those I know are for the latest patch. Is this just a waste of time for macs, despite saying it does work?

I have the same problem under Macos X with Firefox 3.01. I'd really like to use the automatic install with the Curse client but can't figure out how to associate a url type with a program.
<edit>
I've found at least one part of the problem. The Mac Curse Client has no creator code associated with it, which means that no URL associations can be linked to the program. A similar problem was posted on the Filezilla project forums.

Definitely not the only problem I modified the info.plist in my local copy to see if this was a complete solution to the problem and it wasn't even a partial, at least as far as my non-coding eyes can see.
No doubt it's part of the problem but I'm at a loss as to what else needs to modified to make automatic install work.

Firefox 3.01 finally took input for psyn URL application association but apparently the Mac Curse Client doesn't recognize the psyn URL itself. ?????!!!!
Firefox passes the url to the Curse Client and it's launched if not active but it then proceeds to do nothing at all. Puzzling and frustrating, a little help from the developers would go a long way.

For people with FIREFOX 3.0.6 I hope this helps im using windows VISTA too by the way. i downloaded the Curse Client seperate from the questhelper first installed it and then opened up firefox again went back to the questhelper dl link clicked on it and it says choose the PSYN link and u have to pick a program to open it. I went to where Curse Client was saved and clicked on it. Then i went back to firefox and clicked Tools>Options>Applications>PSYN (in the drop down i clicked the path to where my curse client was stored)>Ok. After this I had no problems downloading the Questhelper. I hope this helps
