Problem:
Has there been any update to getting the password reset feature to work? Since the new client patched it required a password instead of using the one from the old client that was already logged in. Many people do not remember their passwords to this website and are lucky if they remember their user name... but anyways, requesting a password reset more then once has gotten me a link mailed to me ONLY ONCE which I was told to click. Upon clicking I was informed my password was changed and I would get a "NEW" password in the mail.. this new password never arrived leaving me locked out of the new Client and the website. I had to create a new user account using a new password simply to get the Client to finish installing and get back to this website.
So can someone PLEASE respond to me that is actually ABLE to reset my "normal" account/email address and my girlfriends as well? So far I have mailed and "started a conversation" with high ranked "officials" of this site and even emailed support@curse.com and support@wowdb.com but those came back as no such address. The only way to "contact" anyone on the site means you have to be ON THE SITE and if you cant get on the site that makes it JUST a little tough to get squat.
Rant:
If you are going to release a new client and a new website, please be sure they work before dumping them on the public unless all these useless ads are really making you all so much money that noone cares about the users. Can you tell I am a little bit ticked off yet?
And I keep seeing messages about "PREMIUM" ... as if I would pay for this kind of headache? Please.. I cant wait to see what you do with THAT aspect. This used to be a nice website that usually had the latest addons... it has grown more and more into a commercial enterprise where the end user gets nothing but ignored and apparently soon to be charged as well. Fix this frelling dren!

I hear you. I've started threads in multiple places and emailed whomever I could find and have yet to receive a response. All I want to do is us my normal email address. However, it is already "in the system" and efforts to reset the password fail. We really need some help here guys.

Tolerant2 and Sano, what are the usernames that you would like the passwords changed? Send me a message with your email address so I can send you the new temporary password.

I am having the exact same problem. :( I will send you a message, as well, I guess... But how do I send you a message? I can't figure out where to send it.

The error in question they're encountering, are the same issues that previous members have expressed concern over.
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
As much as I hate ASP (and you have no idea how much I hate it), I will shed some light on the subject.
1.) new user account don't seem to suffer from the issue... just older ones that haven't logged in in awhile.
2.) it's commonly caused by a bad variable, or an input from a field in a database that has either missing, or malformed quotes, or datatypes. Go check your databases, and make sure usernames are being added with double quotes around a field that is being input with double quotes.
Oh yeah.. and my original account is unable to be password changed as well... and it's driving me up the wall. I'll send you a PM as well, Craig.
I am here only to support the folks from wowace. I've used their Wowace Updater for a year now, and I run it every day. Now it's time for me to help things along. I'm here for premium membership, and the ability to auto-update my mods... and that's it. If it wasn't for their previous support, I'd not be even going through this hassle.

I am in the EXACT same boat. Came over here because of the Wowace Updater change. And just like everyone else, I want to use my regular account/e-mail.
Can you steer me in the right direction as to how to send a PM over here? Do I need to be a premium member to do that?

FYI, it's not a site error. The site will send out emails, and has been verified and tested many times. The issue is that certain email providers are blocking emails from Curse. Some are persistant problems (Roadrunner), while others seem sporadic. We're working on our whitelisting solution to figure out why this is occuring. If you want to help resolve the issue, contact your email provider and tell them to not filter out emails from Curse.

The first issue listed is indeed an ISP, email error.. since the problem that another number of people are having, however, is NOT being addressed.. I thought I'd mention it here. Instead, I will make a separate thread, since it is indeed a REAL site issue, and not just blocked email addresses.

OK so I called Roadrunner, somehow MY IP was on THEIR blacklist to not get emails from THIS website. I can only suggest anyone else with password issues call your ISP and get THEM to fix the issue because this appears to be their fault ( Road runner) not curses... sorry for any misdirected anger/frustration.. but defintly if u you use roadrunner call them, tell them the problem, u try to get a password reset and it never shows up, mention curse.com, curse-gaming.com, wowdb.com and get them to approve those sites and YOUR own IP.
Good luck to you.. hopefully this will be cleared up for ME in 24 hours according to RR.com... damn isp!

Ok, Roadrunner took the WRONG IP off the blacklist cause we have two modems here... BUT after a lot of messing around, I got reassigned a new IP for the correct modem/router. However, the password reset feature still is not working on the site, and I have to assume its something to do with incorrect entries in ASP with my main account "Tolerant" and my woman's account "Sardonya" and am still awaiting emails from Craig Beers for both of those. Sadly, the tech I talked to had no real clue about removing my current IP (on the correct modem) from the MAPS DUL List, which is why he thought it easier to give me a "new" dynamic IP address.
So CBeers, anytime u wanna send us those emails with resets for those accounts, please do.. they should get through.. hopefully.
Thanks again..

I am also not receiving the e-mail from Curse to reset my password. Thing is, I am not using Roadrunner, I am using sbcglobal / att /yahoo (whatever they want to call themselves). Has the issue with the IP address blocking also been an issue with these ISP's? I am logged in on my friends account since it is pretty hard to log in to post if I can't log in and I can't create another account since it already has my e-mail on file.... VERY FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER!!!

If you receive the email and try to click the link and it fails with this message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object", please check the URL in your browser.
Some mail clients may insert a line break into the URL which breaks off some of the data needed to complete the request. the complete URL should look like this:
http://auth.curse.com/NetworkService.asmx/resetPassword?siteid=6666666&emailid=99999&code=UbfcQeDkn0%2bLj23g%2bd%2bf7dEropU%3d&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fcurse.curse.com%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl%3d%2f%26action%3dreset
If the site, emailid, or code portions don't get into the URL, you're likely to see the above error. If this happens, you may need to paste the URL into your browser.

well.. we're Partially getting somewhere.
I've copy and pasted your lines above, and it reports it's an invalid code (rightly so) However, the code within the link of:
code=UbfcQeDkn0%2bLj23g%2bd%2bf7dEropU%3d
Does NOT have the same length as the ones being generated.. in my case, it's:
code=Frx%2btv1IzkSiAbdoq%2fDdLxXXXX%3d
(I've changed a couple letters, just in case.. but that's the EXACT length of what I'm getting in email...)
Is it possible your auth system is looking for a fixed length character field on the input? If so, it'd explain the issue at hand.
Again, this is the link that is copied from the mail client, not even directly clicked on.
Everything else on the link matches (well, except for the curse.curse.com ;)

I did get one originally.. but even after adding *curse.com and *wowdb.com to my webmail prefrences of allowed senders and re-requesting I get nothing. Now, I took the first original (and only) email I had with the long link to click, pasted that into the browser without any breaks in it and was told my password was reset and I should be receiving an email... however that email with my new password NEVER comes to me.
This is really frustrating, still.

I'm not sure about others, but you and I seem to be having the same experience. I do get the e-mails from Curse. No problem there. But the link in the e-mail gives me the error message you listed earlier.
http://auth.curse.com/NetworkService.asmx/resetPassword?siteid=6666666&emailid=1152575&code=4M6uRxeAesftPgrd%2fU9YhCffJYY%3d&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fwww.curse.com%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl%3d%2f%26action%3dreset
That's the exact link I get in my e-mail, too, (with a few letters changed, just for security purposes.)
I don't know if that helps anyone who might be trying to fix the problem, but you and I are certainly seeming to have the exact same issue.

I've the same problem although this seems to be an older post. How do I resolve? My immediate solution was to create a new username and password since the older one is locked up to me now. TY

There were some recent issues with our SMTP host used to send the password reset emails. We've replaced this host with a new one that should be more reliable, so you might want to give it another go.
