You have to be much, much more specific that "don't work." If the answers on the 4 pages so far haven't helped you, unless you have a new problem that has never been seen before 0% chance of that) we can't help you. Read the installing addons link in my signature. Install the addons manually, instead of using the Curse client or WowMatrix, and read the first post on this thread.

It must be late, I can't tell if that was sarcasm, or a compliment I'll take it as a compliment, as it is my intention to help, not upset people. On that note, is it just me, or are people not actually reading the original post? It really does answer most questions, except for the obvious "suggest an addon" posts. I know English is not the first language for some users, I get that, but honestly, this thread shouldn't be on its 5th page LOL

I installed Questhelper without any problems on my mac (have the leatest OS). I have tried to install AtlasLoot about 20 times without success (have followed all directions). When on the main WoW screen and clicking "addons" on bottom left, it doesn't show up. Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

Hello!
I am looking for an AddOn, which displays animations when certain events occur. I used ActionCombat for this purpose, but the current version doesnt include Death Knight events, so while I am playing DK its useless. It would be a lot easier if for example Frozen Fog occured, there would be an audio and animation warning also, so i didnt have to watch my buffs that much and could concentrate on tanking more. And also a CD timer would be great, that makes audio warning when certain CDs are up, like Icebound Fortitude, Unbreakable Armor etc...
Thanks,
Porkix

PROBLEM SOLVED: I created a folder inside the Interface folder and titled it Addons. I then moved all the addons into this folder and it worked.
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons

OMG!!!!! Thank You So Much!!!!! My Girlfriend will be so happy this worked hehe. Shes a sleep right now but i bet she will scream when she finds out i got addons to work on her vista laptop lol thank you so so much!
On a helpful note: if this helps at all. The problem we seemed to have had was with her using vista and like you said you need to install the addons to C/public/games/World of Warcraft/interface/addons with vista . This did work, the cause of previous failures was i have xp so we kept trying to install the addons in the directory of xp which was C/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons but trying so on the vista program . I kept wondering why there was barley anything in that folder and the reason is she tried to just share the game from a friend which resulted in the two different directorys. So, anyone else who has this issue can now resolve it with combining this information, to the front page listing from the admin. Have a good day and once again thank you Curse!! and hope this little tib bit helps someone else to.

I found that the path fro Vista users does not seem to show or it cant find the path. so i resorted to the old path of: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\. from there its simple as clicking on interface--addons. for me i have completly forgotten how to load addons onto my comp (Vista prem. home edi.) ex: unzipping and loading. since the release of LK, i have been alone in the wow world w/o my addons /cry lol well hope my lil bit info helps other and if someone can help me w/ mine i would friggen love em!! [[step by step instructions would greatly apperciated!]]
ps i posted a thread asking help on the addons loading, and never got any. =/

Move WoW (and all ist subfolders, including addons) out of program files into its own directory on your C: drive. Vista's User Account security will not allow any changes within Program Files, even though it will let you save files there. I had the same problem, and this solved it. It also solved the problem with my Logitech G11 keyboard (the extra keys would not work until i moved the program for it out of program files. There is a link to a long and complicated explanation as to why this is and why you should not just disable the user account security, which you will find in this thread somewhere. But this should work.

Double click or right-click zips to extract the folders. Most people use either WinZip, WinRar, or Stuffit to make it even easier. You can google those.

An addendum to Myrrodins' post:
ON Vista: If for some reason when you installed Wrath you opted not to move where WoW was installed(it does ask you to do this), then you should make sure that the Curse client is also set to run as admin.
If you are still having issues then:
- Go to you add ons directory, if it's empty, then the curse client isn't installing them in the right place.
- If the add ons are there, make sure they are named something like "addonname1.2.3", if they are go into that folder, if there is another folder in there with no other files it it is just "addonname" then right click on that folder, copy it, and paste it one folder up in the Add Ons directory. Some Add ons are zipped up with the incorrect directory structure or I have seen instances where the curse program will not unzip them properly, this is rare.
Outside of this, try to doing a manual install and pay attention to the folder structure.

Okay, so when WotLK installed on my Vista, I checked the option for it to be moved from Program Files to Games, where it is now.
Well, I have no Interface folder...period.
I don't know how to go about this...ugh.
I've logged onto a private server to play, so I have a WTF folder, but no Inteface.
I've downloaded Curse Client and have downloaded 4 add-ons,but the only ones found in WoW itself are the Blizzard ones.
The only thing remotely found as 'Add-ons' via Vista Search is a text document in my WTF folder under my character w/ the Blizzard add-ons.
:(
What should I do?

When i go into wow, the addon bow next to characters list does not appear :(
I've found the correct place to put my addons ( i think ) i.e i followed the path of My Computer\C:\Public\Game\WoW\Interface\Addon. In the Addon folder i can see all my addons, along with the Blizz ones.
But... For some reason the little addon bow has not appeared. Am i doing something wrong? :S
Thnx for your time

Whether or not you have the expansion(s) is irrelevant, as the game version is still 3.0.9 going to 3.10. If you have no Interface folder, then I would think you have the game installed in the wrong path, as the first time you load into the world WoW creates that folder automatically for you, puts an AddOns folder inside that, then populates the AddOns folder with Blizzard addons.
In other words, the first page of this thread still applies to you.

I can not seem to get any add ons to work. And it seems with the steps you gave here I might not be able to. I am running a computer on which I have run WOW before. I quit a while back and started again fresh and anew. For some reason when I log in and select a toon (avatar, AKA character) it gives me an error saying it can not write to the memory. I am using Vista. I have to erase the items in the WTF file (Aptly named if you ask me cause I always ask Why the *Bleep* am I having to erase everything in this file?) just to be able to log in. When I get logged in everything runs great. That is until I want to switch toons or log out and want to play again later.
WOW's Cookie cutter answers "It is your computer." (My computer is running at least twice the recommended or better on everything. With updated drivers. I even downgraded my drivers to see if that would help. No dice)
"It is your internet provider." (I have tried on these connections, High speed cell card; DSL; DSL pro; DSL elite; Cable(Road runner); Road runner Turbo; a T1 and a T3 connection. All have the same effect. Yes I am plugging the computer in not running off wireless.)
But anyway back to my original problem. Having to erase this folder's contents each time will lose my settings and such. Also I am using the curse client to download and install the addons. So another question is do I have to redownload the add-on every time I erase the contents? Or will curse automatically reinstall it for me?

Derrin, without sitting at your computer and seeing for myself, I would suggest the problem is the Vista/WoW conflict, which is the whole point of this thread. If you are getting can't write to the WTF folder messages, that tells me WoW is not installed in the correct location, and is most likely installed in the Windows XP path. This won't work due to some security changes Microsoft made to Vista.
You have two options. Reinstall WoW, install expansions, then patch to current version, all BEFORE you install any addons. If you get a prompt asking you about moving Warcraft, select yes.
The second option is correct/verify the path it is installed to now, and if need be, move the whole folder to where it is supposed to be – see this thread for details. You do not need to worry about the Registry file, because the only reason WoW has registry links is to point where the shortcut goes. Just create a new shortcut or alter the existing one to the new path.
The short: if WTF can't be written to, then WoW is installed on the wrong path.
