So whats up with the curse client embedding keyloggers to hack your WoW account?? DONT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING VIA THE CURSE CLIENT PEOPLE. If you need to use an addon here make sure you do the manual install and do not use the curse client to DL it unless you want your account to get hacked. Funny when check were ran on my computer it was the curse client that had embedded loggers. I am not the only one who has had this issue. It was with at least the latest verson of the curse client. I am just forwarning people about it. I am sure this is going to be removed but people have a right to know what your little scam is.

Yes there were rumors about this and the admin personally claimed that there is no such programs embedded in their curse client. According to him, the problem lies on the fact that you might had downloaded the curse client from a unreliable source which might injected that in the application. Please contact them about this and send them your copy of the application so that it can be analyzed and proven if indeed such allegations are true.

Curious that my account was hacked within 1 week of using curse client. My question is how do I remove the malicious program? I run Norton and spy hunter and niether one caught it.

As I've requested in most of these threads, if you have a version of the client you think has a keylogger in it, please send it to me so we can compare it against the released version.
And once again for good measure, NEVER download the client or any other executable except from the manufacturer.

I love how the Curse people are trying to say hey don't download the client from a 3rd party site it may have loggers in it. Well let's see hmmm. One I am not that dumb. Two I did it from curse.com which at the time I thought was a legit site but apparently is not. You all know of this so please stop playing stupid. You had such a nice website here why did you decide to go corrupt? I wonder what gold selling website you guys run on the sly? I had to delete everything from curse. Ran my virus checks and took care of it. Still I was not satisfied so I just reformatted my computer.
As far as I can tell the addons ARE safe. You just need to manually install them guys.

I'm still waiting for someone to send me a copy of a "keylogger" curse client. I've even messaged you directly about it and you were unable to provide any proof. So failing that, what anti virus did you use to 'take care of it'?
If you guys would give something concrete we might be able to help you figure out where you're getting infected from - but all you do is mouth off in an unconstructive manner.

The Problem sits in front of the computer in 98% of the time so stop bitching curse for your own faults! I've used the curse client since it was released and never had Problems with it or got hacked. I assume most of those who blame it on curse are unnable to accept that they might have done something bad themself :(!

I guess you are right. Those people blame being hacked to the curse client but failed to give any admissible evidence to support their claim to curse administrators. Doing so, is unfair and must be stopped. Peace!

I am not a computer or tech person I only use the programs. I recenty used curse client downloaded from this website to auto install several add-ons (quest helper and Gatherer). This was around december 12th 2008. Christmas day my two highest level charachters were transfered to different realm. Blizzard has determined it was an unautghorized transefer and I have started the recovery procedures. As far as where it came from I have no definative proof or in fact any clue. I only know that I dont give out any password or account info and few people know that I even play this game. I run Norton and spy hunter and neither one alerted me to any problems. I only suspect (strongly) that it came from somewhere in the process of adding the Curse client exe. for auto installation of the previously mentioned add ons. I had one prior account issue when I downloaded (manually I believe) a map coord program about 18 months ago from this website. I have no doubt that the Admin wants to get to the bottom of this and I hope this helps in some way. I f you need anything technical please let me know and give specific directions on how to gather that info.
Thanks

99.99% of the time when someone gets hacked because of keyloggers (or anything similar) it will NOT be the last thing downloaded/installed that had the keylogger.
The people that make the keyloggers and hack accounts are not that dumb. They know that people will blame the last thing they did for the problem so after infecting a computer will wait for several months before actually hacking the account.
This also goes for power levelling services offered by many sites. They randomly select a percentage of their customers to hack... but only 6-8 months later when the player has forgotten all about their power levelling.
If you want to be completely immune to keyloggers get a Blizzard Authenticator. they are very cheap considering the technology behind them and make your account immune to the above described methods of hacking.
In fact, even if someone was packetsniffing your login details they would be unable to hack your account still.
Also, if you use hotmail for your email address that is registered in your WoW account you stand a greater chance of being hacked as all a hacker would need is your email address and your WoW username to gain access (because hacking a hotmail email address is very easy). All they would do is follow the "I've forgot my password" proceedure on the WoW website and then hack your email to get the link to change your password... then they have full access.

Hmm, hacked in december? question. do you make sure that you keep windows fully updated? all criticals. I only ask because in November, if i remember right, microsoft released info on a serious vulnerability to windows where people could hack your system without you downloading a single thing. and as soon as MS releases a patch for it, people are exploiting it within hours.

I'm bumping an old thread, but my PC was recently infected with a keylogged, and the only thing that's been downloading since the incident were add-ons from the Curse Client, which I personally downloaded here, from this site. I don't think the program has the keylogger attached, rather, the addons themselves that are being downloaded, and after extraction a hidden .exe file could be executed in the background...

for those idiots out their who think Curse client is a keylogger, I have news for you, Do your research, learn something about computers, I'm a software tech for living, let me provide my proof its not a keylogger. as your notice Not a single one of these programs have a virus under the "Result" section, Stop your assumptions, get off your high horse just because you dislike the client. and Stop spreading falsefied lies and rumors. Get the Client from "http://www.Curse.com" If you get it anywhere else thats your fault.

So you're saying it couldn't possibly have been something else you downloaded? Is the Curse Client the ONLY 3rd party software/download you have?

I'm going to boil this down simply. If you truly believe that the client caused you to become clicky at some gold framing/powerleveling/adult site by holding a gun to your head, ask for permission to decompile the program yourself. Then post your evidence. Until then, the good old MMO rule applies: Screenshot or it didn't happen.
Until you actually provide evidence, you will be considered a troll and your posts will be treated as such: deleted. No, not trying to "cover" anything, or I would've deleted the posts that already exists and/or locked this thread. But I sure as hell won't stand by while some punks try to defame and slander someone's hours of hard work to provide a service for said ungrateful asses.
