Banned from WoW; Need Help/Advice

I have had my account abnned from WoW for third-party programs. I have read up on previous posts from other users on your forums and nothing has added up with my situation. I have recently had computer problems with my main computer and have had to revert to an older one. This computer, in making it Wow-playable, has been completely wiped and free of anything, aside from windows and drivers and such, the WoW Client, and the Curse Client with the QuestHelper and Auctioneer addons. Due to Blizzards policies, I cannot get any more info, but I have been sent an email that states that:"    Account Action: Closure     Reason for Action: Exploitation Policy Violation - Unapproved Third Party Software              After a thorough investigation, we have found that a player of the account listed above has used unauthorized game modifications     ". This is the single piece of info that Blizzard has offered over a series of replies and attempts to contact. I am now turning to you, dear Curse Admins and Mods, to help me through this, as you may be my last hope to reunite myself with my characters I have associated with and worked on for so many hours, days, and months I don't want to have wasted.

Thank you,

Ryan

If your account truely was taken over by keyloggers - blizzard can tell, the login would originate from a different IP address and they know these things.  Just going to a neighbors house isn't going to help either because IP addresses can be geo-located down to a specific region.  I suspect your actually a glider user trying to find some workaround but sorry to say bub, if that's the case your screwed.

The curse staff cannot help you with such a situation as they have no affiliation with blizzard whatsoever.  If the account is TRUELY yours, you will know the secret question and answer, and even if you don't, they can send you documentation to prove your identity as the owner of the account which requires sending in a copy of your drivers license, along with some other information.

Blizzard is the only one who can help you here.  If they have already told you they are unwilling to help, I'm sure it's within good reason.  Maybe next time you won't use glider to level in an already easy-as-hell game.

I don't know what the hell you are talking about, and those refrences don't make any sense. How does my confusion over what program that was installed through this site implicate me in some glider/keylogger conspiracy? You say it's to cheat the game to level up quicker? You'd think blizzard would look at my characters and see it's taken me 4-5 months to level to 48. If I am guilty I must be really shitty at what I do. Also, I do know my secret question and answer, as when this had initially started my password was apparently wrong and I had to reset it, only after doing so I logged in to a message stating I was under a 72-Hour ban. During those three days these psuedo-communications with blizzard occurred. They have now sent me an email containing the quote in my previous post, the email which also states that my account has been disabled. I for one am appaulled that for some reason this situation has turned me into a guilty party without any evidence brought forth, and am suffering consequences for something I did not do, or something that I have admitted to doing (Using Curse and it's addons for regular play) but was under the impression that they were approved for legal WoW play. Now, if someone could tell me either way if Curse, with it's client, Auctioneer, and QuestHelper, would/could get me banned, then I'll stop complaining and inquiring. However, with both no actual response from either Blizzard or Curse, I am left here with no options. I just want some answers, and not automated messages and dipshit responses.

And some explaination on those terms would be nice, it may help if I ever get to talk to an actual Blizzard employee. What is a glider and what do they do? Any other advice is appreciated as well, something good always comes out of it.

Thanks again,

Ryan

Thank you very much, your information was very informative. By the looks of it, Blizzard denies the legality of any third-party program. So although I have read many times on this forum from random members and other miscellaneous WoW/Curse related places of interest, according to Blizzard's Terms and Conditions, none of Curse's addons (or any other for that matter) are okay to play with WoW. Just a heads up for anyone else, if I start playing again I know I won't be using them.

sighs, Blizzard has stated, on multiple occassions, that Addons (With very very few exceptions) do not violate the ToS and are acceptable.

Also the Curse Client, assuming you're using the real one, is fine as well.  With as many users as we have you'd see a lot more reports of this if it weren't an issue.

It's more likely that you visited a porn site and got a keylogger or something else and had your account stollen and used with glider or something else of that type.

Good luck getting your account back, but don't blame curse, or we addon authors.  As an addon author, you insult the countless hours of hard work we've put into improving the game for everyone by doing so.

WOW, After reading all of that you got that addons are against ToS . /facepalm

Common sense is if Blizzard didn't want to allow us to write/use addons they would not put the option in the game.

So if I use a map addon in game I won't be banned? Pardon my ignorance, it's just that I'm new to the game and don't want to lose my account a week in. Smile

Nope,  the addons we host on this site won't get you banned.

Most of the time peopel reporting getting banned for addon usage, have either done something or have had something done either with or to their account.

Okay, thanks for the response. I don't share my info with anyone, including my husband (lol) and I have a password so complex even I can't remember it so I think I'll be okay. Smile

I have a quick question. I don't really want to start a whole new thread so I'll just ask here first. I installed Cartographer 3.0, and Quest Helper through the Curse Client and when I get in game it tells me that my addons are showing a lot of errors and will slow my game down. Any ideas on how I can fix that?

EDIT: Nevermind, I uninstalled it and installed regular Cart and it works fine. Thanks agian for your help!

Is it just the little message in the chat log?

If so, it's just the standard blizzard rhetoric saying that if you have issue please disable addons first.  I'm sure they spend a ton of time getting support requests for addon issues.

It was showing up as a popup message.

The poor guy "Dungo" is asking for help , he comes to curse cause this is an informative site that may explain why his account got banned, but instead he gets accused of visiting porn sites, using a glider, and insulting curse addons, Where the F*** did all this come from? Maybe i should go back and relearn english or maybe gutter journalism. Dungo i may have an explaination, i did a small experiment. I minimised WoW Installed a program called speederXP which slows your clock speed of your computer chip down but what this does with internet games is that it physically speeds up the game so you can set it so you are running 100 - 1000% faster. Now a slow computer can actually cause similar symptoms. As soon as i installed the program i got disconnected and was informed of exactly the same ban, I did not alter any settings on speeder xp so the blizz server did not shut me down becasue of a speed issue which leads me to believe that blizz have install some sort of program sniffer that alarms them on certain words. ie speederxp. Dungo blizzes server may have your original computer settings so when u changed to a slower one it showed symptoms similar to using speederxp. hope this helps in some way

sorry to be rude but this guy is brain dead one addons are legal as long as they dont cross into the realm of botting. Also if any one was listening to his lame attempt to find out what happened. Most of the time if you try to log into the game and your password is Wrong and you know its right GRATZ you have be a victim of a keylogger wich you can get from so many stupid ways its not even remotely funny. So unless you have insane free time to fight a loseing battle with a company thats ban happy to begin with your 100% SOL and should try to get use to that fact.

I know a few people who had their account banned.

While they said they doesn't use anything, they wen't mad when I asked how they managed to be at job at the same time than online with their characters...  Still he maintain he wasn't using glider, he was afking killing mob on a random patern... it wasne't glider... (lol)

The other people I know had unpatched Internet Explorer and visit unreputable website or even well-know wow related site owned by gold selling website... (and thus got infected via an ads, picture or javascript).

Ok heres the news you have been waiting for

Blizzard makes use of a system known as Warden on the Windows version of the game in order to detect third-party programs, such as botting software, allowing World of Warcraft to be played unattended. There has been some controversy as to the legality of Warden. Warden uses techniques similar to anti-virus software in order to analyse other running software on the players' PCs, as well as the file system. However, unlike most anti-virus software, it sends a portion of this information back to Blizzard, which caused privacy advocates to accuse it of being spyware.[83] One example of the information Warden collects is the title of every window open on the system while WoW is running.[84] Blizzard has not stated what information is passed by Warden over the Internet, or if that information is encrypted, so it is entirely possible this information is passed over the Internet back to Blizzard. On balance, many gamers responded positively about the development, stating that they supported the technology if it resulted in fewer cases of cheating. Blizzard's use of Warden was stated in the Terms of Agreement (TOA)

yea thats true wich sadly stuff that isnt cheating can be considered a no no to the rules and warden triggering a ban hammer   even happened useing magelo or how ever it was spelled.  simply put you will allways have people flip out about stuff like this because most people sadly to put it nicely are clueless and will lash out at what ever they think might be the cause with out doing a lick of research
