Not too long ago i installed an addon off Curse that did a nice job at decreasing my latency.

But recently i've formatted my computer and have failed to remember the name of the addon. Any ideas?

Impossible. Addons cannot possibly decrease your latency.

You can get an addon to display your latency, but not possible to improve it.  StatBlock Latency is one. Plus I know Titan Panel comes with one.

There were some addons that could help increase your FPS by dynamically reducing visual elements but none were available to decrease your latency.  Your ping is not determined by your wow install but by the network between you and your WOW server.

While reading a blog I got notice of the following addon and wondered, whether this may work: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html - are there any experiences?

Playing with the ack frequency ("TcpAckFrequency" is the registry key in question) is a very effective way of improving your ping, in most, though not all, instances cutting it by as much as half. It's easy enough to do by hand -- just google "wow ack frequency" or something similar, there's tons of pages out there -- or just use the script you linked to.

Oh, and I should add that if you search around you'll probably also run into instructions/suggestions for shutting off the nagel algorythm, often mentioned with/instead of the ack change. Don't bother, the WoW client has been doing that on its own for a while now.

Faster Ping, which works in much the same manner as the Leatrix Latency Fix. It was on Curse at one time, but I can't seem to find it anymore.  My latency was a steady 240-280 before and it's about 130 now after using it.

OK, but, does it make a difference if you're using Window's Vista Home Premium 64Bit? Or just plain old Vista, even, since it says "Operating Systems: Windows XP"?

Just curious, since my latency seems to go through the roof at least a couple of times every time I'm on WoW.

I was under the impression that the issue didn't happen as much on Vista, but don't quote me on that.  I'm not sure what fix will work on other operating systems, maybe try the one listed earlier.

Yeah, I downloaded and installed it last night, and I'm currently "in testing mode" with Leatrix. So far, so good.

I was on WoW for about three hours last night, after I installed. I didn't notice my latency numbers go any higher than 80. I did, however, experience some pretty nasty frame rate drops, which was documented on the WoWI Leatrix page as a possibility.

My hope in trying this is to keep the latency numbers within reason. It seems as though every time latency spikes happen, shortly thereafter, I get booted from the server. Might not be a correlation between the two, but there SEEMS to be. Sucks to be in a three-on-one (my character being the one) fight, get booted, and come back dead. Really isn't fun if the three were part of a quest, and they only show at random times.
