Will it work with anyone or just you? Sense aparently you need to "Sign in" and set it up to work?
I found a old 2.02 version that everything works fine on and been using that sense they changed over.

This is illegal and stealing. If you do not want to pay for the product you need to use alternatives.
Also everyone needs to be wary of downloading and installing ANYTHING from an untrused source.... don't come back here and post your "I got hacked" thread since this is exactly how you get hacked.

Why doesn't anyone make a free version that is better than Quest Helper, but not quite the same as Carbonite? You can't claim that it is stealing, when things are different, and all ideas spawned from the same place anyway. Quest Helper has issues...............it never worked as well as Carbonite! So why don't people improve it?

There is a subscribtion fee for the website. the software itself is free. You dl it from mega upload and extract it. the file should say Carbonite_2.57. I tried to put the entire file in there and it didnt work for me. so I opened up the folder Carbonite_2.57 and inside it there are 3 folders in it I just took out the one that says "Carbonite" and put it in the addon section and deleted the rest of it. It works fine and V2.57 is sick by the way.

Carbonite 2.57 is not a free application, it is a subscription fee based app. The free version is Carbonite Quest which apparently has some sort of issue. The Carbonite site links you to the Curse site for version 2.02 of Carbonite Quest which apparently still works. As teek5449 correctly stated, downloading from that link is a great way to pick up a keylogger. Beware those who think they can get something for free.

It's kinda hard to embed a keylogger into the program used by Blizzard for the addons.

ughhh.... it's ideal like this that allow keyloggers to spread. The file that is linked is what? Do you know without downloading it? It could be an exe. an auto extractor. etc... each of which could possible contain a keylogger. DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM AN UNTRUSTED SOURCE!
Blizzard has NO affiliation with addons at all. They provide certain functions that addon developers can use to interact with WoW and nothing else. Like I said before I am sure that Blizz would prefer that there were no addons at all.
Please read up on addons, keyloggers, and what is legal and illegal software that can be provided by a third party. This whole post fits that illegal section and needs to be locked and that link needs to be removed.

All that's in it is the readme, LUA/TOC files and bindings. no .exe or anything and is clean with every AV/ Spyware scans you can possibly install on a computer.

.... and we still are overlooking the ILLEGAL part. No matter if the file is clean or not it is still warez and since the addon is payware now by providing the addon via an online file host is the same as providing a link to a hack of Window Vista. DO NOT overlook this fact.
Also, NEVER take anyones word that a file is clean, always check it yourself, since it is STILL from an UNTRUSED source. This is wares since there is no free version avaiable right now. Illegal, illegal, illegal.... get my point. If someone was to come over to your house and 'borrow' your car would you be happy?

I've scanned it with just about every AV i can think of. NOD 32/Norton360/AVG and comes up clean.
It's a clean file as far as im concerned. illegal or not. Welcome to the digital age. Everything is crackable.

...if you follow those rules then the upcoming Curse Premium will violate those rules.
 Quote:
1) Add-ons must be free of charge.
All add-ons must be distributed free of charge. Developers may not
create "premium" versions of add-ons with additional for-pay features,
charge money to download an add-on, charge for services related to the
add-on, or otherwise require some form of monetary compensation to
download or access an add-on.
I think that the way Curse will circumvent the rule is by claiming that they offer an alternative free version. But in a sense Carbonite then follows this same 'exception' by still offering a 'free' version. (yes, it's still out there)

FYI carbonite quest will soon be done for since it will be going against the new terms of use that will be put into effect 3.1 so yah they better start making it free or risk being shut down. Not to mention Blizz can take the addon for themselves at any moment. Thats why its able to be added

No they can't. That would be copyright infringement. Blizzard CAN write their own version and include that. They can't simply steal Carbonite legally, any more then any of you can.
The sense of entitlement some people here have is absolutely mind boggling. It's pay software. If you don't want to pay, don't use it. There's no way to justify stealing it, and people like you who try to are the reason why in 10 years the Internet will be locked down. You're leeches who expect to take, take, take, while contributing nothing.

So you've contributed what, exactly, to the WoW community? Or any
community for that matter? Before you start going all "holier than
thou", maybe you should practice what you preach. Sure, you may have
"donated" a few bucks to some authors at some point, but that's hardly
"contributing".
EDIT: Perhaps you should rephrase as there is a
distinct difference between "contributing" and "paying for a service".
Right now, you look like a hypocrite.

Copyright enfringement what? THe code there writing for it belongs to Blizzard. You're givent he ability to make addons but it's not technically "Yours". Hell, your account isn't even "Yours". Your accounts Blizzards and your charactors blizzards. Your just paying to use it.
At the new policy shift. Glad to see Blizzard responded to my e-mail.
