hey i recently got my account put onto a last warning (for a first offence) because of something that the minor that i share my account with said. im not protesting. after telling me what he said, it was entirely justified.
however, i now find myself in a position where i have to seriously watch what i say and although i am not in the habit of saying abusive things, if i lose my temper or something, i could be barred for life.
so basically, im looking for an add-on that i can run to block chat messages that could break the rules. something similar to what spam sentry does only to not send my own messages. does anyone know of any?
edit: this is for WoW by the way, thanks in advance

There's no addon that I know of that will do this. The best advice I can think of is stop sharing your account. It's against the rules anyways. Then make sure you keep you cool while playing and think before you say something. Then go wash that minors mouth out with soap. Bar soap not the liquid kind. :)

Hmmm.... not a bad idea for an addon really. How many people claim that they have a potty mouth and do not always realize what they are saying. You really only have to match outgoing ChatFrameEditBox text to a wordlist and replace the offending text with an alternative. Will look into it a little, no promises.

It's fine.
As for the addon, I've seen a similar request once on the WoW UI forums, and I don't remember any specific addon named in that instance. My guess is that such an addon doesn't exist. I don't know how difficult it would be to create, either.

It was not said that he was a parent or a guardian so I assume he's not.

Here you go: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/pottymouth.aspx Just a very simple addon. Will only censor outgoing text. remember that if the person using your account has any clue about addons that they can just disable it and bypass the filter. Also, it is a little overzealous in the filtering so add or remover what you want from the wordlist.

I just copied over a list that I use for other applications that I write. I found it on the web a while back and just update it where needed.

Any text editor will work. Notepad on Windows is one.

Eloquence has a "mouthwash" function, and can be set to do it to outgoing text as well as incoming.

Well, I think that Blizz assumes that you teach your children not to swear so there 'should' not be an issue with outgoing chat. As far as inbound chat there is an option to filter the inbound chat for profanity. efindel suggested Eloquence to handle this but since there is an already build in way to do this I thought why reinvent the wheel when someone else has made it already.

I meant the addon, sorry, I should have been more specific. And I agree, parents do need to teach their children not to swear.

Blizz needs to implement the profanity filter in both directions since I am sure that the original posters issue happens more often than not. Not a hard issue on their end and hey, we could all use a little self censorship once and a while :-)
