Firefox and the Curse Client

The problem with the "Install via Curse Client" option while using Firefox has been one that has existed for quite some time as far as I recall. I am curious whether or not a solution has ever been found and if one is currently in the works. It is particularily irritating to have to open up Internet Explorer everytime I wish to install an addon. While I could do it manually, the automatic installation is a much more effective and efficent manner of installing an addon. After all, we are living in a world where Firefox has become the web browser of choice so a fix would be nice.

Firefox: 3.0.7

Curse Client: 3.0.0.2

EDIT: My mistake. This probably should have gone in the Bug Reports board.

What isn't working? You don't say how it isn't. My Firefox works just fine, and I have the same versions you do. Is it the psyn error? If that's the case, it means FF doesn't know what do with the protocol. In FF's file associations, point psyn to the Curse client application.

My aploogies. Yes, I believe it has to do with the psyn error. I select Install Via CurseClient but nothing ever happens. It is possible something has gone amuck among the file associations settings. It never dawned on me to check (doh).

EDIT: Aye. It would appear it had to do with the file associations. After taking a peek I noticed it was set to [Use CurseClient.exe]. This obviously wasn't working. But I did notice another option: [Use "P:\Programs\Curse\CurseClient.exe" -url "%1"]. Selecting that option sure enough solved the problem. Well don't I feel like a fool now... Either way, thank you for your assistance. Much appreciated.

Take it easy.

I would like to know how to make this work as well... I get "firefox doesn't know what to do with this" when I click on install automatically, and I don't see file associations on FF anywhere.

Open your FF Browser then click on "Tools" and then click on the "Applications" tab. Those would be your file associations within FF. Enjoy!

PS. Sometime it will try to download missing plugins, these might be different than file associations.
