Hello.

I wonder whether it is possible to create an addon that holds a  "find that mob" list and alerts me when I get near one of that listed mobs. Is it possible to "scan" the mobs in my vicinity and get their names without clicking on them?

Any hints about that topic are very welcome.

It is not possible to 'scan' the mobs in the area ( (NO it is not possible for anyone who wants to reply that it is :) )  BUT you can have an addon check against a list of selected NPCs to what you hover over with your mouse. It's not too hard to code up but it will eat up some resources due to the number of lookups that the addon will have to make. Each and every mouseover will need to loop through your list of marked NPCs.
