Alright, so firewall deactivated, netgear router - what operating system?
Other possibilities include:
* Dual ip addresses are running
* Your local hosts.conf has modified versions of curse ip addresses
* Your login name has special characters in it
* Your netgear router is blocking it

Where is the local hosts.conf file located?
I have no firewall running, a netgear router that isn't blocking curse client and I still cannot connect.
Thanks for any help.

Makou107,
Your hosts.conf (if under windows) should be at: C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc (or wherever your windows is installed)
If there is not a curse.com entry, do not add one.

Makou107,
Can you describe your network configuration?
The cannot connect errors (when still able to connect to curse.com) have historically always been because of a network configuration issue.

Hello,
I just installed Curse clients, it works well for a few minutes but I am now fighting to try to install any add-on. The connection to the server seems to be blocked by my router, an SMC one. As soon as I try to dowload something, the following error appears in my router log:
**TCP FIN Scan** 69.57.184.212, 80->> 192.168.0.4, 51893 (from WAN Inbound)
Other times I got:
**SYN Flood to Host** 192.168.0.4, 51342->> 69.57.184.212, 80 (from WAN Outbound)
So this error can be in any direction...
Any idea what it can be??
I try to look for something in the configuration of the router but I can't find anything.
Regards,
DFL

Sup! Downloaded client. Couldn't login either. I currently run Norton Internet Security (NIS). So I went in to Settings, Smart Firewall, Program Control and made sure that the Curse Client was set to "allow" instead of "auto" just to make sure that wasn't the root of the problem. Still wouldn't work. I never use proxy settings or a router firewall so I assumed that there was something wrong with the client server. But I continued to tinker a bit. INTERESTINGLY, turning off "Antivirus Auto Protect" (right-clicking NIS in tray) allows the client to connect. So with the firewall ON (although "allowing" the curse client) but the antivirus protection OFF, the curse client works - for me at least. WT bloody F! What the hell has the antivirus program have to do with connecting to the internet anyway, right?! Is the problem with Norton or with the Curse Client? I don't exactly want to run my system without virus protection just so the Curse Client will run.
