I would like to ask why the client is continously attempting to add "Paint the Leader" to my WoW addons every time I update my WoW addons.
I do not play Warhammer and reading the addon I notice it is an addon for Warhammer. I have never requested this addon to be added. I do not want this addon added.
All these "I do not" statements surely indicate to the writer of the addon that he or she is infringing my privacy and in doing that leave themselves open to legal procedings.
To the management of Curse - Please investigate why this should be happening and please tell me where I can send my official complaint and request to stop invading my privacy.

Odd, but duly noted. What you can try is click the Manage Games button, and turn off or remove support for WAR. Once off, no WAR addons will be checked, installed, updated, etc.

I have the same problem, and no WAR games added.

Very strange, we occasionally get this reported and have no idea why. As best we can determine, it is trying to install the curse profiler but somehow getting the Paint the Leader addon instead. Please don't blame the addon author for this one.
Both of you are saying that you do not have a WAR installation setup, running windows, but the client tries to install paint the leader.
So it is a war addon that is being installed into your wow directory?

Here is an image of the installation information. It shows QuestHelper as the installation folder. There are no files with either "paint" or "leader" in the entire WoW directory tree in question. I have two WoW installations, both with questhelper installed, however only this installation insists on automaticlaly installing Paint the Leader.

Excellent feedback Ranec, that shows the problem very clearly.
I'll try reproducing the problem here. The client should absolutely not be installing war addons into a wow installation. Even more disturbing is I see the CurseProfiler already there, so it should be trying to install that and mistakingly installing Paint the Leader instead.
I've already opened a ticket internally to work on this problem. Hopefully we can have a fix for the 3.0.0.7 release.

One more piece of information: the client showed that PTL had an update available. I hit the update button, the client did something (perhaps updated the addon?), and then PTL disappeared from the list.

Thanks again for the feedback Ranec,
I suspect the addon is not actually being installed, but is being added to the database of installed addons (i.e. wouldn't show up in your interface\addons folder). Still trying to get it reproduced here, but I don't know why Paint the Leader is exceptional in this regard yet.

I am having this exact problem. I believe I accidentally downloaded it while scrolling through find addons and double clicked accidentally. Now I am unable to remove it from my list. Every time I open Curse Client, it is there wanting me to update it. I've tried countless times to uninstall it. I have checked for it in my addon folder and it does not show it there. But now Curse Client tells me that I still have addons that need updating. If I refresh, Paint the Leader comes back asking for an update. This is really getting annoying. If you can find a way to get rid of this, I'd be grateful. :)

Grymfyre,
I believe this issue is related to the client trying to reinstall the curse profiler. Please try disabling the curse profiler in both Tools->Options and the Manage Games setting for the game to see if it affects it.

I have removed it 10 or 11 times and it auto reinstalls every time. I DO NOT WANT IT. I have NEVER installed it myself. It just appeared one day. WTH is up with that? No I do not play War hammer. I play wow.

Also the client auto adds a war hammer instalation along with runes of magic, whenever I add WOW. I neither own nor play either of these games.

Can you verify that there is no warhammer or RoM game installed on the PC that you are using the client on?

I have had the same issue.
Tried to remove the thing a few times, and it always came back at the next scan.
A few times it even showed it with the "triangle with ! in it" icon saying that the addon had been altered by another program.
I enabled the curse profiler addon and it looks like it disapeared after that.

From what I've been told, reinstalling the client will fix this issue. It may be a bug within the client detection that says paint the leader == curse profiler.
