Curse Client Premium

False informations. We are a private company and we never released any financials. DB is making a random guess here, we are still loosing money FYI,especially as all advertising CPMs droped 250% in 6 months due to the financial crisis and advertisers being shy on marketing budgets.

How do I get it to work with WOW?  I've downloaded it, Now what

Report this thread post

open the zip folder (i believe there is one) extract and install.

next you can search addons such as "QuestHelper" and click on the name, (look at background info on it through curse website if you like.) and click the install button to install the addon.

I dont see why you should make such a big drama about a premium version of their client.

Its not like you're obligated to pay for downloading, downloading remains free, just as the curse client, you just need to download your addons one by one.

I payed for it, yes. As the addon whore i am i'm not in the mood to sit there and manually update over 40 addons.

If you dont like it, dont use it and go back to whatever server you get your addons from.

Regardless, curse is a business, they want to see profits, what's wrong with that? If my tire was being changed I would not be appalled at the idea of paying the man when it was done.

Guess a rogue like WM was really putting a dent in that 3.8 million. Seeing as Curse, Inc., might be costing as much as 1 million a year to operate (and that includes all the diverse holdings of Curse, Inc., not just Curse.com, but excluding payroll), the amount of bandwidth used by WM in all reality meant nothing to Curse, Inc.

The Premium Membership is nothing but another profit generater for Curse, Inc. It is not needed to afford the operational costs, except payroll maybe.

According to the information provided by Curse about the Client, if you do not pay for Permium Membership, you will not be able to download as fast, nor will you be able to update multiple AddOns all at once or set it to automatically update AddOns. You will be able to update them, just you will have to do it one at a time.

If you have 10 AddOns needing updates (say like after a patch), you will have to spend several minutes doing it one at a time, and you will have to actually sit there doing it. With Premium Membership, you will be able to click once and all 10 will update, or will have been done for you, and you will be given priority during heavy "traffic" (for lack of better word).

As with many premium memberships, you will not have to deal with ads (of course if you download a free program for your browser, you can be ad free anyway).

There will be other things, but not all is being disclosed at this time.

Bottom line, Curse is looking to boost its sales to over 4 million per year, pay raises for everyone.

I sense a Cease and Desist coming along for Curse from Blizzard soon, Because if im not mistaken, Blizzard has updated there Addon policy or whatnot and it says that "All Add-ons must be free of charge" and considering that your charging 5 bucks a month for a "update all" button, it will end pretty soon.

Where as "all addons must be free of charge" i totaly agree but to the "update all" button, well if you wanted to use addons curse IS NOT MAKING you pay for addons, all of the complaints that I have seen most of them seem to be "im too lazy to manualy download my stuff!" and are complaining that they dont have a "i win" button anymore.... QQ to you and suck it up. L2 multitask if you need to have a download all button, or better yet if you dont want to pay and dont want to download one at a time, dont use the addons play as a purist and then realise that one at a time works..

my time is srsbnz!

I dont think Blizzard will see it that way, You play WoW. you know how Blizzard is.

If you think about it, yes bliz is that way, but then again when have they ACTUALY listened to what players think..... how about never unless it is to pull out the nerfhammer at a seconds notice, i am almost getting to the point of beeing bored of WoW (yeah not a good thing)

If bliz actualy made intelligent plans regarding addons (like paying the guys who make the good ones, or putting them on staff) i dont ever see bliz as doing anything right in the past year and a half

Blizzard has often listened to the community, maybe you just don't realize it.  Notice threat and scrolling combat text are now part of the game?

We all updated our mods manually back in the day prior to Ace Updater.  Even with Ace Updater, if you used mods that weren't in the ace framework, you still were manually updating a lot of mods.  Not sayign the premium service is right, I'm just saying don't be spoiled.
