I have the same issue.
From Curseclient.log:
Tue Apr 28 13:50:04 2009> [HTTPManager] Http transaction failed!
This line can be repeated up to 55x per second for several consecutive seconds. All other computers on the same connection work fine, AVG's resident shield has been temporarily disabled, the client managed to update some addons on first run before the connection died.

seems by looking at my router logs that at the launch of the curse client causes my router to block internet on my pc do to denial of service protection.
looks like the client is sending way to much info during the startup and ver. check.
please please please curse GET INVOLVED. Stand behind this product. look into this matter and give use answers. or atleast tell us your working on it!

Not sure what to say here, other than everything reported on this thread is indeed looked into by the client devs. If it is a problem with the client, then it will be addressed.
That is a big if, since based on reading your threads, it sounds like it is your router that is not configured properly. If you can see which port the CC is trying to use, then allow it to do so, otherwise if you continue blocking the port, then the CC will continue to fail.
This same logic can be applied to every internet capable program. If you block IE's port access, then it would fail as well.

We are looking into the issue, of course any bug we cannot reproduce ourselves makes the situation tricky. Do you know if your router is having any type of issues with pipelining requests?

first thank you for responding. since i have no clue of what port CC needs (nowere i can find is this listed) i figuerd it was port 80. this is the web brouser port an is an open port on both my router and pc. I have no internet connection problems with anythig other than when i luanch CC.
it only happens after CC logs me in and the Searching for updates progress bar appers. if i wait some time the connection returns only to fail when i try to update the addons that need so.

ocala-kaylee,
We have received reports before of routers (belkin I believe) blocking the curse client. Evidently it assumes the client is making too many tcp requests and flags it as a dos attack. The only solution is to change the configuration on the router.

I've been having issues with this as well. After CC runs its scan, internet connection is completely shut down. I cannot access via IE, Firefox, Opera, AVG updater, WoWEcon, etc., etc., NOTHING. The only thing I can do at this point is open and reopen some of these programs over and over until it finally kicks back on. This is especially inconveniet when CC runs what seems to be a scheduled scan, and I'm on the net doing something else. I've lost info this way. Please look into it. Thank you.

Hmm, old thread, but a bit more info. The error someone printed "DoS" means "Denial of Service" and usually is caused by multiple access attempts to the same port on a router or firewall. It is a security setting for all routers and firewalls to block internet access completely when a DoS attack occurs. While I cannot troubleshoot anyone's router or firewall, I can tell you that if you read your manual (if you don't have the printed copy, you should be able to find it at the manufacturer's website) there will be a section on how to allow programs access through the block.
That is what Llamabark was talking about. The solution exists on the users' end.
