Hi everyone, Kaelten directed me here as this appears to be a serious issue.
Can I get some information regarding your settings? What operating system you are running and the last parts of your curseclient.log would greatly help in resolving this.

I am getting the same problem here, but only intermittently.
OS: MacOS X 10.5.6
Client: 3.0.0.3.2
However, my problem seems to stem, I think, from my internet connection .. I have a multiple ISPs connected to a single router which load balances my connection. If I force all my internet connections to be sent through any single ISP, it seems to work fine. The problem comes I think when the router selects a different connection for each outgoing attempt. In that case I often get the "failed to download" message.
If curse communicates over a specific port, I can set the router to push all outgoing traffic to that destination port over the single connection. I have not however researched this much further than what I listed earlier. I might go through my router logs and try to determine the destination port, and try this solution. In the meantime, when I need to upgrade, I just change

@tnedor, the client uses port 80 for all communication.
@BertramWW, this sounds like a permission issue, I'll direct llammabark here so he can help you.

BertramWW, it does indeed sound like a permission issue.
Please try running the client as administrator as this issue could be caused by lacking write permissions to the addon directory, although it could be cause by network issues. I will be adding extra code today to try and detect and report local folder permission problems better.

Since he is on macox, I doubt it's an administrator issue.
However, since he can get out from multiple IP with is load balancer, it might cause problem in the authentification database / protection mechanism since he come from multiple IP withing a sincle client session?

Yeah, if there are multiple ips involved that'd cause an issue.

I have mostly the same issue at times, but thats because of a adblocker that for some reason seems to think the curse client is trying to connect to soem sort of advertisment website, clearing links to curse.com dosent solve it and the adblocker is so dumb it dosent tell me what address it is blocking, maybe you have something similar that blocks it by misstake or is it failing at install process in which my problem is off topic... sort of.
Edit: lol seems my IE didnt want to load the whole page, i only saw the first post when i posted.

Sorry this is incorrect.
My ACTUAL problem was that I did not have enough hard drive space for the addon. It just happened to work after I did that because I tried a mod that happened to be smaller.
Check to make sure you have enough hard drive space where you are trying to install the addon.
Best of luck!

I'll see what can be done about detecting lack of hard drive space better.
