The Add-on im looking for is to explain fights,

Tanks have to know and explain all fights in the game

technical explanation is ok but would like a more down to earth sounding explanation that is postable in chat

Please Help a New Tank sound like he knows what hes doing

I don't believe there is really an add-on except for alerts ( which I would use BigWigs ); however, there is a nice site called TankSpot that has nice videos and blog posts about tanking certain bosses. Good luck!

well first off tanks are not expected to be the ones to explain the fight, Hell i play a resto shammy and CO run raids with a holy priest.

second, unfotunatly alot of people do fights diffrent depending on the make up, what type of tank you have, what type of healer you have, the dps lay out, if your running all melee dps, all range or a mix, these will all change how the fight works in the end.

besides, is it realy hard to type out "all dps on adds when they come" or stay out of the green cloud, if your going into much more detail then that you run the risk of coming across as bossy, dont forget that alot of people dont like being told how to play there class when they are doing fine in the first place.

p.s. if you dont know a boss fight say so. if im pugging something and the tank says "i dont remember this fight" im not going to assume hes an idiot, but if he goes in and does something so stupid that my mouth fallls open, i sure will. but like i said, being the tank does not mean you need to be the strat runner.

Could not agree with you more! The raid leader could be of any class and still explain the tacts. What this guy seems to be looking for is an addon that briefly sums up every fight so he can just click:

[KT] [Flame] [Mimeron] [Freya] [Yogg]

And either the raid gets a short explanation (maybe 4-5 lines of /raid) or he gets a full summary on his screen summing up the boss (spells used, tactics to use, etc). Just seems a little lazy of his guild to be honest, I have a feeling most of the guild are pugs / new players who just recreationally raid once a week so can not be bothered to go read tactics outside of the game. = Makes people even more lazy ;)

The only advantage of this addon that I can see is "Dynamic" spell links that the boss's use... in other words each time blizz change how boss's work (nerfed or improved) the raid would be able to see what damage to expect each attack to cause. = Useful tool

I am definatly in two minds about this addon.

I like to look stuff up online. I have a desktop for the game, and a laptop going anytime im in a dungeon so i can do quick research. I would like to see an addon that could do something like, idk....

have a button for "explain boss" and the boss "file" could be loaded when you mouseover the boss in particular. I have seen other addons do this in the past (bigwigs maybe? i forget which one) and like stated above, give just a brief summary. not strategy, but what the boss does that makes it a challenge. The "move-to-dispell" debuff on the last boss in nexus, "this boss will put you to sleep" for the maiden of xxxxxx (kara, hos, etc). My issue isnt that Im too lazy to look stuff up and type it out, its that I cannot depend on everyone else to do the same, and an addon would just make my job as the competent tank a bit easier. 

Most groups can then decide on strat after this little blurb is posted (shamy use tremor totem, pally will cleanse, etc) and an addon like this, as I see it, would just help streamline that process and speed it up.
