i will give this cartographer a try....and i am downloading it now....by main concern right now is does this program scale the player marker with the map or does it stay at a viewable size...well i will guess i will find out soon

Cartographer can do what you want .. but its very very kitchen sink approach..

What you would end up doing with cartographer is scale it down to the size you want for your resolution, and stick it where minimap was.. that said.. making a world map that small ... will likely result in worse useability than the minimap you currently have.

ok this is my first post so i dont know if this is the place to request something but i do have a request that i would like filled and im sure quite alot of other people would like....

when i go into a place that has something to do with pvp (battlegrounds, outlands) i can press shif+M and get a VERY NICE minimap called a "battlemap"...its nothing special and it it is pretty easy....i tried to download the closest thing but that replaced my main map and started to use a slower and not up to date map coordinates system and it took a while to understand....and was far too complex

all i want is to glance where i am on the map without having to look at the big one anywhere....ie SW or barrens

if someone could make a simple minimap (hopefully one that shows the map even if unexplored i would be very greatfull

(on a futher note please if possible have a option to change the size and transparency and possibly if feasable a option to shade unexpored areas in a color of the users choosing)

if there is someone up to this chalange please send me some mail and give me a ray of hope
