http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6852-NameplateModifier.html

Vranx has a couple listed on his UI website as well: http://www.vranx.com/nameplates.htm

And p3lim mentioned on WoWI that he was considering making pTags work with WOTLK. No linky for that one.

Re: Nameplates?

I'm also wondering if anyone has found an alternative (or simply something that works, aloft doesn't appear to be working since the patch).

Re: Nameplates?

Hate to be resurrecting an old thread, but I found it in a search, and
I too have been looking for a lighter-weight replacement for Aloft.

For those with confusion regarding what a nameplate is, a nameplate IS NOT a unitframe, nor is it a tooltip. A nameplate is the floating name and healthbar that can be toggled on or off via the "v" key (by fefault). Here is an old screenshot with a bunch of nameplates that were modified by the aloft addon, for reference:

Unfortunately Aloft is extremely heavy in memory useage, particularly with the opacity/alpha module (where it will fade out the nameplates of everything that you aren't targetting, something I found extremely helpful and hated getting rid of). I looked around for a long time to try to find a replacement for the tool, but none of them were anywhere near as good as Aloft as far as customizing nameplates.

Currently I have disabled the mod and am just running the base UI's nameplates. I've not looked into Skinner's nameplate skinning tools, since I got too annoyed with Skinner's defaults of trying to skin absolutely everything and I uninstalled it, but I may look into it this week with the patch coming out today, since it may be necessary for me to overhaul my UI again anyway, depending on mod updates, etc.

Re: Nameplates?

I haven't used Aloft, and I can't find a good description or screenshot of it either so I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for. I assume it's an addon for either changing unitframes and/or tooltips.

For unitframes I personally prefer Pitbull (WowAce) since it can be configured in so many different ways.

For tooltips I think either CowTip or TinyTip will do the trick. Again WowAce :)

I might just be completely lost here so in that case just let me know and I'll try again :)

Nameplates?

Are there any better nameplate addons other than Aloft? I always seem to have trouble when using it, and am just tired of dealing with it. I do have a preference for ace addons if this is of any help in referring to one.

Oh, I also noticed skinner has one, is there a way to change it in the options?
