Occasionally, I have had the WowAceUpdater install errors; the fix is to uninstall it, then reinstall it. Don't know why that happens, but it does. On a bright note, WAU works better to update Ace addons than any other similar program I've used so far, including the Curse and WowMatrix ones. It also has a neat feature under the first menu "File" to scan or check your SavedVariables. It will automatically back up then remove any such SavedVariables for ANY addons you currently don't have installed, Ace or not.

That alone has solved some in-game conflicts I've had in the past.

Skip any addon utilities for now and just download and install manualy (3 to 4 clicks) since you are only using one addon. If you need help just do a quick search of the forums there is a long thread about installing manually.

Also if all that you need is just a coordinates addon there are much simpler addons such as Simple Coordinates that will just add the coordinates to the default map.

On a side note you will never be suspended for a non exe addon (like every addon on Curse) Your frined was probably suspended for running a bot or similar which runs seperately from WoW as an exe. You will never find that type of addon from any of the major addon sites. So feel free to install away. Also avoid any autoinstallers (exe installers) since they can contain keyloggers which could compromise your account credentials.

Oh sweeet. The first thing, WoWace, siad it downloaded but gave me errors.. .tried again with teh other program and I HAVE COORDS!

Option 1

Go to files.wowace.com and download the cartographer addons then install them.

Option 2

Goto www.wowace.com and install wowace updater, run wowaceupdater and check all the cartographer options you want then select "install/update marked addons without externals"

option 3

Goto www.wowmatrix.com and install wow matrix, run wowmatrix, select "get more addons" tab and find "cartographer" select the ones you want then select "install"

Okay, here's the way it is. I didn't play WoW for about a year and I've just started again. My main is doing quests in Ungoro and finding things is a pain.. I've always enjoyed Thottbot and websites like that, but I get frustrated when there is no map and only coordinates. I wanted the simplest 'coordinates' addon I could find, one that was safe and wouldn't get me banned (paranoid after a friend was banned without warning for a mod about a year ago ... why I had stopped playing for awhile)... I heard a lot of good things about cartographer. When I download it, though, it seems like there's no executable file and I'm not sure what to do with it.

Forgive me because while being somewhat of a geek, and considering myself proficient with the interwebs and computers, I'm just not all that knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. I would REALLY enjoy having map coordinates. I pretty much consistently solo and don't have anyone to lead me to things/tell me where things are/etc.

Help help help?
