Anyway, to the developers: WHY - THE - - do I have to have an account and log-in just to update my addons now... which, in today's case didn't even work.

Why does it have to get more difficult, just because you need more users hence more possible ad impressions...

Too bad then, good sirs, moving to another client. See ya.

This was now a constructive criticism. NOT! Anger has never paid.

I am also sad about the demise of WAU. However, I am not going to mouth off at everybody, for not receiving a FREE service anymore. You now get what you pay for under WAU. That be be exactly nothing.

Go to the wowace site, and read their forums. The reasons are all listed, and the main one is, the person who was running it, was paying through his nose, out of his own pocket, so he made a decision, and as much as we now have a lot of pain around it, his choices were spot on for the situatio. I hope taht the future will be for the better out of this change, and I will give it the benefit of the doubt.

I do not think that the curse client is the most elegant, but possibly with the Woace community, that will improve significantly.

Right now I have more pains around non-working addons, and juggling them, that this issue has become a minor on my radar.

Peace, and remember, it's jsut a game.

Re: Your horrible installer

You're likely to get a response along the lines of "WoWace.com was never intended as a place for the common user to go and retrieve their addons."

Your anger/frustration is surely recognized (it's obvious you are upset) and while you may not hear what you want to as a response, any transition period for a company (namely software distribution) is likely to undergo a bit of growing pains as the shift occurs.

Unfortunately, that does (albeit infrequently) tend to result in the end-user being left with a slight bit of confusion regarding a pre-mature feeling of abandonment. Consider perhaps the changes were made with the best intentions - would you/could you be so mad?

You'd have every right to be as you are the consumer and there is an implied responsibility of the developer on your behalf to "keep you in the loop". This doesn't always happen 100% of the time. Given that the financial aspect of this transition has not been disclosed, it is only anyone's assumption that the intent of the move was purely for gain/profiteering vs. ulterior benefit and common sense.

Basically... you're not alone in recognizing some total paradigm shift , feeling "out in the cold" or "left in the dark". Your voice is pretty clearm probably now more than ever, so it's good you have shared your feedback. The benefits, regardless of the current experience are already fairly obvious (centralized updating, one-click addon management, less overheard, direct access).

The "answer" will likely include, "... give it more time." - and I'd be hard pressed to disagree.

Your horrible installer

THanks for f'ing us in the ACE... after screwing around with your turd updater I started using the wowmatrix one which doesn't:

1) Do things we have no choice in

2) Get the LATEST ace stuff from your OWN website which your tool is not currently doing.

3) Also points to other sites since they get their money from ads and selling other tools.

Even though it's better than the new curse client, I still prefer the fantastic ACE WAU which you shitcanned and I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment.

I hope you fix the ace thing but you've really lost my trust for a long time. Really, really poor timing on your part.

Hope the greed was worth it - oh and by the way if that assumption is misplaced, maybe you put some actual info on what went on with the ACE deal to shut me up - maybe even use that new fangled e m a i l I hear so much about to let your subscribers know what kind of rape they are in for...

</vent>
