With the announcement that Curse Client is going to stop being FREE, I've gone completely WowMatrix. I can install manually or with either client, but I don't intend to pay for one. With the economy like it is, every penny helps. I really shouldn't be playing online games at all but I chose that over cable tv.

Piece of advice for BOTH devs of the clients. Stop comparing your genitalia and compare notes instead, make both of your products OUTSTANDING. The competition for scientific achievement and trying to tell one or the other that you are somehow better than the other is foolish and neanderthalic at best. I will stop using either client that charges me and all that want to control my use of addons against the others.

Um... uninformed, much?

Curse Client is still free of charge. There's a spiffier version with more features that will cost extra, but the base Curse Client is free and has all of the features necessary for.

And Curse is not waging a "which is better" war against WowMatrix. That's completely irrelevant to the issue at hand and the current situation. WowMatrix was leeching bandwidth off of Curse. That is theft; WowMatrix was stealing Curse's property. Curse attempted to contact the creators of WowMatrix several times in order to seek a diplomatic resolution, but WowMatrix refused to regard Curse's requests. Therefore Curse had to take necessary steps to force WowMatrix out.

Re: Curse client feedback

With the announcement that Curse Client is going to stop being FREE, I've gone completely WowMatrix. I can install manually or with either client, but I don't intend to pay for one. With the economy like it is, every penny helps. I really shouldn't be playing online games at all but I chose that over cable tv.

The client is much, much friendlier than it was the last time I used it. It seems much more stable and user friendly. However: the reason I previously used WowMatrix was convenience and ease. It picked up every single addon I use (that's 120 addons by its count, plus modules), and was routinely able to update them.

Curse client has found 12. That's 10% of my addons. This, in effect, leaves me with no benefit from using the client, as I must still manually update 108 addons. The vast majority of these are hosted on Curse.

The client would be 90% more useful for me if it picked up all my addons, not just a few of them.
