pet bar

from the very beginning when i started wow ive been usin blizz's pet bar.  i dont got that big of an issue with it but one thing really annoys me,  my hunter's pet abilities in its spell book will de-auto activate 3/4 the time whenever i hearth, login, or dismount.  for instance, when i solo i have to have growl and cower on it's action bar.  if i dont and its in the spell book and not on the action bar, then most of the time growl will not be used and cower will allways be active meaning i always get agro.  same thing for raids, got to keep growl on its action bar cause most of the time itll be an allways auto use ability and my pet will steal agro.  its just annoying for me to havin to constanly open pets ability book to make sure that the abilities i want auto-active are on and the ones i dont want are off.  rambling and complaining done with, does anyone know of a current up to date hunter pet action bar addon that will allow me to put more than the usuall 4 only abilities on it?  it would mean a lot to me and i would be very greatfull. God bless yall and have fun with wow

Have your tried right clicking the spell right on the action bar it self rather then opening the spell book and doing it?

If that doesn't do it maybe something that got screwy and you might want to try clearing out your savedvaribles and see if that helps.  The links in my sig can help you with that if you need it.  I don't believe you need an addon for this somethings simply just not right.

Camealion, this is actually a Blizzard bug that all hunter pets have had since the major patch released right before WotLK. Pet spells that are NOT on the action bar will randomly reset themselves to auto-cast. So, you end up having to put the spells you don't want resetting on their own, onto the Pet bar. No one that I know has found any way to keep this behavior from happening.

The problem with this work-around (putting Growl, Cower, and Prowl, for example, onto your pet bar) is you run out of room for the other spells that you want to use situationally. So no matter what, you end up having to open your spell book in order to turn some spells on or off.

What the original poster is asking for, is a mod for Pet bars that will allow Hunters to put more of their pet's spells on the action bar. This would keep us from having to open our spell book, click on the pet tab, and then right-click on the spell we want to put on (or off) of auto-cast.

I hope this helps clarify what the problem is. I'm not aware of any mods that will allow us to expand our Pet Bars, but it'd be nice if someone else knows of one.

Edit: A quick search produced one addon, but it hasn't been updated since last December. http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/project-14485.aspx

I don't think there are any mods that can add extra pet bars.  Blizz has blocked this forcing hunters to make a choice on what they want as active or not.   Now, you MAY be able to get around this using macros and putting a macro on your standard toolbar though.  However, I know of no mod that can allow for more than the pre-definied number of pet actions.

If it would be possible to add more buttons to the pet action bar, you can bet that mods like Bartender and Dominos would do it.

I use this macro to get around this very annoying bug when soloing:

/petattack
/cast Hunter's Mark
/petautocastoff Cower

This sends your pet in to attack your target, casts Hunter's Mark, and explicity turns Cower off. I have this on my 1 key. When in groups or raiding I use another macro that is based on the above:

/petattack
/cast Hunter's Mark
/petautocaston Cower
/petautocastoff Growl

Hope this helps.
