No it didn't, but thanks for posting. Sorry you got hacked, but it had nothing to do with Curse, the Curse Client, or addons hosted on curse.com
Curse is an Official Blizzard Fan Site, and we wouldn't so anything to lose that status.
If you got hacked, you got hacked weeks, if not months ago, and the hacker sat on the info until you got complacent. I suggest the following:
- Get the Authenticator
- Never type your password into the field. Copy/Paste it from a seperate text file
- Update your AntiVirus and Anti-Spyware programs and scan regularly and thoroughly. They will tell you where the hack came from – and it won't be Curse
- Don't buy or sell gold or even click on the links for the spammers
- Don't play on private servers, which are against the Terms of Use anyway
- Switch to a secure web browser like FireFox, Opera, Safari, or Chrome. Stop using Internet Explorer except to do Windows Updates
- If an "addon" says it is an executable file (.exe .bat or .com) more than likely it is a hack
- Should you be stupid enough to get a "hacked" or "warez" version of the Curse Client, then, well, you are stupid and deserve it
- Update your Flash (free) from adobe.com
- Update your Java (free) from java.com or the Windows Control Applet named Java
- Do all your Windows (or Mac) updates, not just the Automatic ones. Go to windowsupdate.com and get the Recommended ones as well
I don't know why you got the idea that we would delete or ignore this kind of thread. We never have before, but the complaint is always the same, and never correct. To be blunt, but accurate: you did something to get hacked, and Curse had nothing to do with it. In any case, I wish you the best of luck getting your stuff back; you probably worked hard for the loot.
What I am going to do is lock this thread, just like all the others get locked, because there is nothing valuable in them, other than tips to prevent getting hacked in the future.
