I have to say that I am not thrilled with the change in this site. The biggest draw to this site for me was the entity to item cross references (ie, item X shows that entity Y drops it and vice-versa). Appearantly those cross references got lost in the transition. I am hoping this was just an oversite/bug and will be fixed soon.

Oh, now I'm following you more. You're talking about the Vanguard Database, correct? Yeah, that is an oversight/bug indeed, and I will forward this to our developers and make sure they are aware of the problem :) Thanks for pointing this out!

Yes, I am referring to the Vanguard database. Thanks for the quick reply.
FYI, inre the truncation of the first post, looks like the left arrow (shift-comma) did it. If you have edit rights to all posts (a common admin right), you can look at my first post and see what I mean.

I fixed your original post. That was more than likely caused by the wiki markup syntax used on the site.

The information should still be there in the database(and will continue to be added via the Curse Client) - nothing changed on the back end that I'm aware of. It's just a case of the pages needing to be updated properly to reflect all of that information. I'll make sure to remind zinor about it!

For me the biggest drawback is that I now have problems viewing favorites (Wow addons) becuase the menus are no longer to the left of the listing but covering them up. I am using XP and IE 6 (admin says no 7 gave no reason). Is there a way to move or diable the menues when viewing the favorites list?

This is a css bug with IE6; I'll make sure to push for this getting fixed asap.

I no longer seem to be able to enter a keyword for a search on the vanguard entities database. I'm a blind or is this field missing now?
I really hope the cross reference between items and entities that drop them as well as drop rates are gonna come back soon!!

Clicking on the Forum button in the bar at the very top of the web page brings you to a "Forums > All Threads" list - BUT I can't see any way of listing the different Forum categories... how do I navigate the different Forums ?
Clicking on the word 'Forums' in "Forums > All Threads" just refreshes the "Forums > All Threads" page... it doesn't go to a base Forums page with a list of the different Forums/Categories.
For example :
When I clicked on this Thread, then I noticed that the web page shows it has been posted in "Forums › User Interface & Addons Discussions ›"
This is one of the main forum categories I want to get to regularly - but how do I navigate to it without "luckily" clicking on a thread that has been posted there ?
And how do I see what other forums are available to read and post in ?
Also, I have previously done Forum searches for "Telic" to re-visit what I have posted before, which brings up 2/3 pages and I have to go to the third page to view the most recent.
However, when doing a search in the new format forum, it only shows 1 page of posts, and I can't see my most recent ones. Neither does it report the number of results found, or the number of results being shown on that particular page.
Given the forum navigation problem I was having, this was my last resort to finding my recent posts again, but I can't see my most recent posts :(

The forums link at the top, the main forums listing, is still somewhat in the works. Categories currently only show on individual game portals.
As for searching, you will soon find an easier way to find posts which you had made in the past.

The search function in the Vanguard db is not working very well:
1: The following searches do not work:
Search on 'greatwing phoenix'. Expected result a reference to a Vanguard mob, Instead I get a lot of hits of no interest, but NOT the NPC reference I want
Search word 'testament'. Expected result a list of Vanguard items. Not one is listed.
2: The format of the search list is very inefficient, distributing the result over several pages of only a few hits on each page. Each hit should take only ONE line, so we can get all or at least a lot of hits on each page. Clicking through pages is very inefficient.
3: I often get many duplicates in the search list. Search for 'chosen templar' to see

Yeah I believe our DB search somehow got stuck in with the google search indexing. Searching a database probably isn't what google is best for. :)
I believe we're planning to return the DB search to something similar to the old site.

k, got the WoW forum categories via the Portal, ty :)
I guess I was just used to that drop down box in the previous site version, and with no way to navigate the "generic" forum categories just left me feeling a bit confused ;)

The new Vanguard Database no longer shows the mob "point" (dot) values. There's a huge difference between a level 30 2 dot mob and a level 30 6 dot mob, and having that as a search feature is important. Please consider keeping the old database live until the dot values are put into the new database. Thanks.

Two more issues with the Vanguard DB searching:
1: When I enter multiple search words it seems to search only on the first word, ignoring the second word I entered. This makes it hard to delimit searches, only hits that matches all entered words should be displayed.
2: For most searches it reports that the search result goes over several pages. However when I click on the link to each page I get the same page shown for all.

Another issue is cross reference of entities with chunks.
Example:
http://vg.curse.com/database/entities/?q=&level_min=&level_max=&type=&chunk=107&points=
These are all entities in Sepulchar Chasm chunk, Deposit of Granite is one of them. Click on it.
Deposit of Granite
http://vg.curse.com/database/entities/details/10370/
Sepulchar Chasm is not on chunks list.

aye, you should look into this. searching "jude" in the tanvu chunk will bring up jude plants...but clicking on the link it doesnt show it as being in that chunk. harvestables only seem to be appearing in the same few chunks (of the low level harvestables i've searched). bordinar's cleft, three rivers are usually there, but not much else.
It's apparent that a lot of bugs cropped up with the new site, but don't get discouraged. This is the only decent vg database site and we just want to see it fixed!

It's supposed to be fixed ;) I can see both drop rates and dot value. It's the "point value" which is marked with stars. In the client they are refered to as point value but maybe i should have gone with what the community calls them. I sided with the developers.
