the big question i been wondering about is that... is there anything better then curse??? cause all i see is wowmatrix which i dont even think looks like it should be in open beta from what i hear... and thats about it... anyone got any clues to what could be better then curse i could try... and the reason im asking is because there are some add-ons i wanted to try in the past that curse wouldnt allow because of the new add-on policy :(

Better than Curse in what way? I'm not trying to be rude or obnoxious, but you were non-specific. Were you talking about addon updater programs other than the Curse Client? Or were you asking about websites that host addons? Or something else entirely?

The first two are easy: WowInterface.com, WowUI.com ... at least those are the big ones. I know WI has their own updating software, but don't know about WUI. Curse and WowInterface seem to be the most popular with addon authors, so with very few exceptions, you should be able to find almost every addon up-to-date either here or there.

And just a clarification: Curse blocks addons that have violated Blizzard's Terms of Use; we follow them. And Curse, like most hosting sites, frowns on people renaming an addon, uploading it under their name, and not crediting the original author(s).

yea i was talking about different clients like the curse client add-on manager... for instance wowinterface dosent have a add-on manager that i know of i just cheacked them out and they diddnt have one :(... i want a site with a add-on manager who will host any add-on...

WowInterface does indeed have their own updater. It is just ridiculously hard to find on their site. I only found out about it after reading this post.

That said, I know you were asking an opinionated question, so I will give you my opinionated answer: I don't think anything is better than Curse. Maybe because I'm an author of addons and just prefer the hosting methods of Curse. And until I see WowI's new client, I have to say the CC is by far superior.

Of course, I can make a case for WowInterface insofar that they host mod packs that have several complementary addons in one bundle, and they also host UI conversion packs that do a total conversion, which Curse does not.

What I am trying to say is that "better" for you is not "better" for me. That is why there are so many addon hosting sites; to give you choices, so if you have a preference, then that is a good thing.

Information on their updater is on the front page even.

It is now, but when the post I linked was created about a month ago, the WowI updater was an unknown to me. In any case, yes, their new updater is all the rage on their boards.
