Roughly the correct years...
Used to play DOS text RPGs, pong, Atari, and NES but life took me away until some unforseen events opened up quite a bit of time.
A few console games rekindled the interest, then some betas, including EQ, and then FFXI took hold.
Great experience, especially interacting with an awesome guild, called a linkshell in-game.
Was honestly saddened by the loss of interest by so many and kept paying for an account for far too long, even though not playing.
One of the worst experiences was purchasing the expansion after Chains of Promethia, with the thought of returning, only to find the main cities all deserted except for the NPCs and one or two people...
Overall an amazing, interesting world with quests that piqued your interest.
